It is with great sorrow that I inform the Palmetto State prep soccer community on the death of former Spring Valley High School (1994) standout,
Andy Kwon, on March 27, 2021. He played club soccer with the Northeast Columbia Soccer Association (NECSA) during his youth career.
He passed away at Kiawah Island, S.C., after suffering a brain aneurysm, while on vacation with his family. He earned All-American and All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors at Duke University from 1994-97 and was Team Captain for the Blue Devils his Senior year. Duke participated in the NCAA Tournament all four seasons that Kwon lettered.
In his professional career,
Kwon was very succesful in the business world as his most recent position was Managing Partner of the Machine Investment Group LP of New York, N.Y.
Our condolences are to the Kwon Family as we celebrate the life of one of the best young men to play the beautiful game in South Carolina.
