ANDERSON, SC - The South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association hosted the annual North-South Soccer Classic on Saturday at T.L. Hanna High School's Yellow Jacket Stadium at Fraser Field and winning streaks were kept intact for the Girls and Boys contests.

GIRLS - North 0-2 South
In the morning match, the South girls scored two first half goals and made that stand up over the course of 80 minutes for a 2-0 victory vs. the North. Tallying goals for the South were Kristjana Deveau of Bishop England on an assist from Wando's Ansley Douty in the 25th minute while Douty notched a score in the 36th minute on a pass from Alexis Spivey of James Island Charter. Goalkeepers Finley Dybik (Wando) and Olivia Bradley (Chapin) combined on four saves for the shutout. The win improved the South's lead to 12-10-5 overall and the Reds have captured the past two contests. Douty, a midfielder, was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Player for the South while defender Marian Darby of J.L. Mann earned MOP for the North.

MOPs: Ansley Douty (Wando) & Marian Darby (J.L. Mann)

BOYS - North 1-0 South
The Boys match was unfortunately impacted by Mother Nature as the Wet-Bulb temperatures on the field turf dictated that the Athletic Trainers shortened the 12:30 kickoff to a pair of 30-minute halves. However, the North squad took advantage of this decision, which was discussed throughout the game by SCHSSCA staff, just two minutes into the match when Jonathan Howard-Morales of Hillcrest connected on an indirect kick started by Gray Collegiate's Ben Richards. An error by the first half South goalkeeper, Connor Dahlman of Summerville, who misread the lines on the pitch allowed for the free kick that Howard-Morales steered home past a makeshift wall of defenders. Kaleb Porcoro of Eastside went the distance in the net for the Blues and was credited with two saves in the shutout. Howard-Morales was the MOP for the North while Nathan Tubbiolo of Wando was tabbed the same for the South. The win boosted the North's lead in the series to 19-13-3 and marked the third consecutive victory for the Blues.

MOPs: Jonathan Howard-Morales (Hillcrest) & Nathan Tubbiolo (Wando)

This event marked the 35th year of the Boys game and the 27th season of the Girls match. The NSSC has been held every Summer since the inception of the All-Star game in 1989 for the Boys and 1997 for the Girls. T.L. Hanna has hosted the doubleheader eight times, beginning in 2007, but the Electric City has been the site since 2017. The only year the NSSC was not played was 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.
