How about the fourth place team (Mauldin) getting almost twice as many players as the rest. This is not exact but it went something like this, Mauldin (6)6-4, Hillcrest (4) 9-1, Greenwood (3)7-3 and Hanna (3) 6-4. Comments???? Please no BS!

And by the way, is this the first, and hopefully the last time a 1-14 team made it to the 4A playoffs??? (Go Easley Green Wave)

OldJacket Hillcrest only has 3 players on region team. Region Champions only gets 3 players!! What a joke. But it is like someone else posted earlier, it is about the team not individuals. That only goes to show you that it is so political. Mauldin's coach should be a used car salesman (maybe he is in spare time), it is apparent he can sell ice to an eskimo. I can see two maybe three not six. As far as a 1-14 team making it into the playoffs, the only reason is because Hillcrest can not participate. We asked 16 coaches (I don't know which ones) to help with our last appeal, there were only 3 that would help. I do know Hana's coach wouldn't. After all who would want us in the play offs with a 17 -2 record. Region 1-4A is well represented. Good Luck to all.

I still haven't seen the picks yet, but it does seem a little strange. I will say that Mauldin has four top notch kids on the team who I would consider All-Region. They do have some serious holes though. That, along with Arrieta being out a good deal of the season is the reason that they have a mediocre record. Put in a healthy Arrieta for the season and you have a team with a much better record and a clear justification for a decent amount of picks. But six still seems too high.

Not sure, but he didn't play much early on in the season.

Hanna beat them with him playing. GFCPOP21, Maybe the reason that the Hanna coach wouldn't help with the appeal is because he believed the the punishment fit the crime. He was a big advocate for the swearing red card a few years back. If that doesn't give you an idea on he feels about "controlling the game or yur team" I don't think anything would. I feel bad for Josh and the rest of your guys but with the "crap" that has been going on in HS sports in SC the past few years, well, state has to make a stand. Sorry again and thanks for the kind words about the playoffs.

Another thing, a few years back the Mauldin girls team had like 9/10/11 girls on the region team. Our girls coach told me that a "SUB" was choosen over one of their other starters. Why does our region coaches let this happen???

Earlier in the season they did, but in their later game they really couldn't control him and Mauldin won that game.

Hillcrest beat them twice, once in the beginning of region play and once nearer the end, both times with him playing. He didn't appear to be hurt. Don't get me wrong. Arrieta is good and desrves all he gets. D.J. Gadino is a great asset to have also. D.J. is a good player and desreved all region. Truthfully I can't see six players on all region. I went to their 1st round play-off game last night. Arrieta, Gadino and Erbacher are it. Erbacher did play a good defensive game except one mistake that lead to a goal for them. Mauldin won 4-3 in O.T. They came back from down 3-1 in first half and won in OT.

I'm not saying he makes the team unstoppable, but they are a better team when he is in there because they have no depth. As far as Region players, I agree with you except that I would have to add Sneed (17) to that list. I've also been told that only five made Region, but since I don't know where to go to look at the list I cannot confirm that.

Sneed - not, he has great hussle, desire and some speed, but no touch on the ball when he receives it and not great foot skills.
