Irmo has been invited and never attended. Dutch Fork was a "partner" member for the first 10 years of the Palmetto Cup, but their Spring Break did not coincide with the tournament the past two years, so they chose not to play. The Aiken teams face the same difficulty (Spring Break is during the Masters) and with 16 teams involved -- times and logistics are just too much to compromise for teams that can commit for the entire tournament. Next year, this will hinder Greenville County teams from playing and some other areas, but we have had a bunch of inquiries for the 2005 Palmetto Cup and should be finalizing a field in June.
As for Georgia teams, they are limited to how many matches they can play in a day or during a certain time span. Thus, no team from the Peach State has participated in the tourney. Out of state participants have included: Kempsville (VA); Norman North (OK) - three times; Atlee (VA) - twice; and Science Hill (TN).
As for "upper tier" 4A teams, what do you consider Dorman, Hillcrest, Hilton Head, Mauldin, Northwestern, Ridge View, Socastee, Spring Valley, Summerville, and Wando to name a few who have participated in the event?
