Personally...I think that Mike "Goose" Gustavson is the best goalie in the state period. The battle is for second place between Faulkner and Moody. Faulkner has hreat ability to anticipate where the shot will be placed before it is taken. It's almost unbelievable. I was standing at midfield as he stopped 2 pk's from Craig Gulick and Jamal Geathers. Unbelievable saves, they are simply not supposed to be saved and he somehow made them. As for Moody, he never shows me anything when I play on the feild with him. Aiken game last year was a nightmare for the kid and that's all I can remember about him. I know it's bad but he hasn't done anything to stick in my mind. With the talented group of seniors we have graduating this year i'm sure he will be tested...

Or until the coach realized that Faulkner wasn't playing at the level of Moody. Here are a couple of stats: In six halves of play, Faulkner got scored on six times. In fourteen halves of play, Moody got scored on once. Interesting...maybe basketball wasn't the only reason for Moody's starting position. But again, I do believe that Moody and Goose are the best in the state.

well considering that they were winning at halftime pretty much every game and will played second half no matter what the score was the rest of the players on the field were second string and the goals were usually one on ones. I think no matter whos in goal they would probably get scored on more if they had second string players on the field instead of the starters.

I have played Moody and Faulkner many times and seen both play a ton as we all grew up, and Will has always been better than Moody and still is.

put it this way, I have seen both play and Faulkner went to csc to get some exposure so anytime a kid has been playing keeper for a team since the irmo cobra days... it's goin to be hard to cut into his playing time. Faulkner is better than moody. simple as that, moody decided when faulkner could play this year b/c it has been moody's job for all these years. Yea you could look at the stats but thats not saying much when i witness the game and faulkner goes into the game in the second half when all the scub are in, you put them with an unbiased coach on a different team. faulkner will have the starting spot unless he misses for his other commitments like basketball. If Faulkner gets committed to soccer 100% there will be no talk of moody.

Comparing keeper stats can be very misleading because you can have a keeper that sits behind a good team/defense and doesn't do much and he can have great stats. You need to look at how the keeper organizes his defense and reacts when the ball is coming at him. Don't let stats fool you.
