is faulkner the same goalie who replaced hunter after he graduated? if so congrats for being honored as one of the top three goalies in the state. if this is the same kid, i remember that when he first began starting for lexington that he was talked about as being aweful...there might have even been a goalie controversy i don't really remember. to come out of that much scrutiny and to now be mentioned as one of the top three goalies in the state...congrats man.

You are correct about the goalie controversy, but it was the older goalie (name escapes me)who some folks thought was awful. Will was the younger guy who many thought should be the starter. I do not think anyone ever thought of Will as awful; if so, they were wrong. I'm sure P15 will correct my memory if my story is off.

I believe the older goalie started at the beginning of the season, but split duties with Will. I think Will won the position before the season ended. Must have been his freshman year.

irmo4now - your memory is correct. The other goalie's name I believe was Chris Kelly. There was a controversy, and Will was a freshman at that time, and was better than Chris who was supposed to follow Hunter. Chris didn't come back the following year so that ended the controversy...Chris was a good kid though and he continued to support Lexington even though he wasn't playing for the team anymore.

Ok, so i think we are all in agreement about the top 3 keepers in the state right(differing a little with the order)? Now i ask everyone to do this, justify your rankings. Why is goose better than moody and will, or visa versa. Is it because you play on his team? Or is it actually for a "real" reason that one is better than the other 2?

2004,

Some schools to track "back Saves" and Tackles won. I know in any type of fantasy soccer games form Europe i.e UEFA Champions League and EPL they track those things etc. Kyle help me out here.

As for HS soccer you must have a GREAT stat guy to keep up with that! I think the only team in SC that could track that stuff would be BC w/ Kyle and his "stat Staff"!

As for the "backs" being the strength well I don't care wow good they are if the guy in the net is a "fish" you are DONE!!!!!

I'll go the opposite Shearer. You can have the best keeper in the world and if the defense is weak it won't make much of a difference. The keeper can't cover the entire net and can't stop that many shots when they are breakaways, PK's or deep inside the box. A good defense keeps the ball away from the keeper and makes the shots that do get through ones that are easier to defend.
