Oh my dear drunken friend, Shearer. It is not even noon time and your thoughts are already muddied from too much of that rich, creamy Newcastle Brown Ale!! I have seen many a team with a 'fish' as you call it, in goal, who have very strong defenders and did quite well. A case in point: the SV keeper handles himself adequately, but he is smallish and not blessed with great speed. Yet, the SV defenders are all intense and quick and aggressive and have allowed maybe only one goal in 3 scrimmages and 5 season games. (They beat #1 Northwestern 3-0 in a scrimmage.) Surely, you cannot say that the keeper is the one who deserves the recognition there. As for the stats issue, it would take some keen observations, but it is doable. It would be no more difficult than the stats on assists and shots on goal. You just give a point or whatever for a necessary clear, a blocked shot, a force out wide, etc. It won't happen, but it is something to ponder.

Guess it goes both ways.......BUT I will take a good/great GK every time. Look at Arsenal and Man U.....Then look at Chelsea......Petr Chech is by far a better GK than Lehman/ Almunia(sp) and Carroll/Howard. Man U and Arsenal have been beaten my really bad GK play. Their backs are world class..but if you can't catch you are doomed!

Chelski have the best pair of goalkeepers in the world at any one club in Cech and Cudicini.

Man Ure and ARSE would love to have Cudicini.

that is not necasarily true, as in the Lexington BC game (I'm not saying that the goalie was bad, only that he wasn't tested and i believe is young) BC's defense played outstanding and kept Lexington to 1 true shot on goal, which they scored on. If you can shut down a team like that day in and day out, who cares who your goalie is.

Brookland-Cayce's goalkeeper is sophomore J.C. Gypin, who was making his first appearance of the season vs. Lexington after competing in the Individual Wrestling State Championships over the weekend. 'benp' is correct in addressing B-C's back line of junior Scott Busbee, junior Kevin Ros, and senior Tristen Seabrook -- they have been solid all season. Backup goalkeeper junior Carlos Farias-Perez filled in admirably during the preseason, but returned to his center midfield position vs. the Wildcats on Tuesday.

Thats it!! Finally some recognition for the backs, sweepers, stoppers! If I do so humbly say, that proves my earlier point about defenders and keepers. Without a proven keeper, BC defense has allowed only 6 goals in 4 scrimmages and 5 regular games. BC defense also shut down Lex. and only lost during that medieval torture system called
THE PK SHOOTOUT.
