Academic Magnet was beaten by Christ Church because Christ Church had Tomek. I'm not saying Tomek was their entire team, but he also got a full ride to this years NCAA number 4 school (Duke). Please correct me if I'm wrong. Besides, they only lost 3-2, any game lost by one point could change drastically the next game.

Academic Magnet is just like any other school except it's more challenging. It doesn't focus EVERYTHING on academics. The swim team was third in the state. We sent six XC runners to state. Football is another story, but who cares about football when you can play futbal.

I actually, correct me someone if I'm wrong, but Tomek and another one of their good players Fletcher McCraw were out for part of the season last year and I think at least one of them was out for the Academic Magnet game. I know they were both absent against Emerald last year that's why the game was such a blowout.

Christ Church had Tomek for the Magnet game last year. The final was 3-2 C.C. and it was a balanced game with each team having chances.

Also, let's see... the bus got lost so a 4 and a half hour bus ride turned into almost a 6 hour bus ride. A game that was supposed to kick at 7:30ish, kicked about 8:45 giving Magnet about 15 minutes on the field after stepping off the bus. All things considered, I think a 3-2 loss was an acceptable result. The rematch is Friday, April 1. These are not excusses but a lot of people seem to give reasons why C.C. did not blow Magnet out so these are just reasons that Magnet should get a lot more credit for their performance than people give them.

Anyone who doubts Magnet's success over the past years needs to remember that any lower state 2A team had and still has to go through Bishop England. I think the last time a boy's team other than BE represented the lower state was the Hanahan team of 97. Hanahan won lower state back to back years winning a state title one year (1996?) and runner's up the next (1997).

After all of this talk about AM I really hope that they can back it up. If all of this stuff being said about them is just hype then its going to be a shame.
