Benp, I'm trying hard to give you the benefit of the doubt here. Why would a team that leads for most of the game play for pk's. I have a hard time figuring that out.I must say though that I did expect you to come up with some off the wall comment or excuse. I don't believe I have seen you give any credit to any of the 4 teams to defeat Ben Lippen.

Lincoln, that is the exact strategy I saw emplyed by the CESA U17 Premier team just a few weeks ago to win Score at the Shore Tournament in Jacksonville. Only 11 players were available, so the coach employed a strategy of having numbers back on defense and trying to hit the opponent on counter attacks. It worked well enough for that team to win 7 games in 4 days against good competition from across the country . There is no doubt that Coach O'Hare of Wilson Hall felt he had a manpower disadvantage going into the game, but to suggest he was playing for pk's is ludicrous.

Not so fast my friend ........From all I heard(from a CESA coach) that this year's Score at the Shore was watered down(excuse the pun. Great job to win the tourney but the best teams across the country....I think not.

I don't have any comments about the BC/Dreher game, because it was too cold outside and I've been home sick for two days with the crud.

Sounds like a typical game from the recap Dreher posted. Looks like there were some fireworks at the end. Lots of the same names and the stats looked pretty even.

Will probably be more of the same next time!

PS - Mullins' nickname is the Auctioneers. I should know, because I'm originally from the great stump of South Carolina, Galivant's Ferry!

I believe the post says "good competition from across the country", no where does it say "best teams." We have already discussed the strength of the tournament and agreed it was not Disney. But, that had nothing to do with the point of my post.

DCA,

I understand your point. Having not been at the game myself, I can't comment on the call made. I can assure you however, that every referee that I've ever talked to doesn't want to be put in a position that a call he does/doesn't make decides the outcome of a match. I don't know what the referee coded the card that he gave for "pulling the shirt". I haven't heard of that one, it could have been PI or any number of things.

But hardly can a PK in the 2nd minute of the match be considered deciding the outcome of the match.

I don't claim to be unbiased about BL soccer, but I did say that the chapin game was a well fought match and that they had many opportunities. I also said that Dreher played very well and outplayed us, but in the Wilson Hall game, they scored at the very end of the first half, and I meant that they did not really try hard to score again. And then when ben lippen scored they still played very conservatively even in overtime. I did give them the credit, I have no problem with defensive style of play, and they used it to beat bl fair and square. Wilson Hall is much improved and will probably be in the top 4 in our region this year.

(I did not mean to come across as an excuse on our part, but rather the reason that they stopped us). Good luck on the season, and We look forward to our next meeting.

I read in the Dreher recap of the BC game, that there was a contreversial goal not scored by BC late in the second half. Any details?

BC threw the ball in and it went in the back of the net. originally it was ruled a goal, but after talking with the other ref they decided that it did not touch another player, therefor it was ruled a no-goal.
