I think all fans have the right to cheer. And as long as it is in good clean fun I dont have a problem with it. Love it when people have fun at the game.

SA fans talk directly to individual players shouting and taunting them at every single move they make...I pity the player with low self confidence who happens to make a mistake in front of those stands....

I agree that South Aiken fans are the worst I have seen by far. I know fans have been kicked out several times (by school officials, not the refs) for saying really bad things. Their comments are usually directed towards players who mess up slightly and the fans don't ever let off. I also pitty anyone who takes a pk against SA, not only because Goose is so good, but the fans enjoy opportunities like that.

the greenville fans have been more brutal in recent years but they seem to have mellowed and run out of ways to taunt us...i think the trash talking is great it always gets everyone really fired up

We used to blast the ball out of bounds into the stands every now and then if the spectators were getting out of hand. If you needed to play a ball out to let the defense reset, why not let the rowdy fans get a little ball action! It was kinda fun to tag a kid that wasn't looking.

A few years ago..the "Ridge View Hecklers" had a website with profiles for their hecklers and everything. I only saw them at the RV/Dorman State match in 01 but..they were pretty friggin' bad.
I think I've heard about similar things at G-ville and MB.. but.. haven't seen anything like it since that time.

Barnwell...Especially their girls team, when they get done playing! They say the dumbest stuff I've ever heard, like we had a throw-in and we dropped the ball back, and one of them "You throw ugly" and one time they told another teams player that he should "Not be so quick with the ball" and somehow they seem like they know nothing about soccer, or just ignorantly want to act like that.

Barnwell's girls are rough at times but they just say dumb stuff so that you'll look over them and see them as the ditziest people in the world...But it does make you mad and want to run into people on their team though...or just kick a ball at 'em

I saw just that happen this season at Northwestern by a Sumter defender. It was deserved and I loved it.

SA fans are rediculous. Their students just start talking crap when they don't even know whats going on. Their team could be losing and their still talking crap. Well their fans are horrible.

I may try kicking the ball out of bounds at the fans if they start heckling me...sounds like good clean fun.
In the past Barnwell fans have been pretty bad, and it really affected our playing (well, not mine. I was a child at the time I am referring to; on a side note, I was a ball boy, and I rocked). We weren't supposed to pay them any attention, and the refs were making it worse; every time we asked them to stop talking to us (IE "Will you please stop talking to us and let us play the game?"), he would warn us but never say anything to the fans.
But from what I've seen so far from the Barnwell Fans is that they have improved drastically (I've only seen the Varsity Boys crowd); I look forward to playing them this year.

Back in the 80's, DW Danial fans would line one side of the field, standing about a yard off the sideline. Back then, they didn't play in the stadium. We even played them at Lander in a tournament one year and they did the same thing. The fans would talk smack and throw pennies and pebbles the whole game. Shows how clueless refs are at times. We also took pleasure in sending balls into the crowd. I imagine we were a lot more effective than those of you sending balls screaming into the stands. Our back four averaged 6'2", 190 lbs. so I have to say it was a joy to watch an unsuspecting fan take it in the face.

I agree, our fans can be really ruff on other teams and are not afraid to single out one player to rag on.

Don't know how often that situation has arisen this year (losing and running their mouth, after all they are 12-0-1). Indeed SA's fans are a bit too rowdy, but I don't know if they'll trade that kind of home field advantage for a kinder, gentler fan base. I've seen worse from other teams in other sports but will admit that when a team has a rapid rise of top level play it can lead to soem overzealous fans filling the stands. But it's not that bad, just mostly done in fun and goofing off. Just kids being kids. It's also encouraging to see SA doing some disciplining of their own without getting the officials involved. It's never easy to remove one of your own fans for behavior but there must be a line of decency somewhere

In our game at Walhalla the game was stopped and four fans were kicked out for hollering racial slurs down at our black players to the point where our marking back had to be restrained. It was the worst incident of racism and bigotry that I've ever witnessed.

Barnwell fan- you're an idiot. stop talking! No one on Barnwell has a full scholarship. Not a knock on Barnwell, they have some seniors who can walk onto teams and contribute, and a couple of younger guys who may get offers. It was a shame what happened to their player, but stop posting because you are making your community look bad!

PG has horrible fans. they sat behind our goal (at PG) and made fun of our keeper and made jokes about his mother (as to which the keeper had to turn around and inform them that his mother was dead) they were extremely rude. as the game went on, they got worse and their comments became ruder. it was obvious they knew nothing about soccer and must have only been their because they have nothing better to do on a friday night.

Yea PG has some bad fans, it was probably the track team that was insulting your goalie, at my game, they sat behind the goal and when ever our person shanked one they would run off with the ball. It was just stupid, you'd think that track teams should...i don't know...run track?

Sa crossed the line when they yelled at North Augusta player, Eric, to "go back to africa" "Simba!" "Mufassa(the monkey in the lion king)" and chanting supposively african chants.

As most will not like this, as a ref you have to power to control the racial slurs situation. It is in your power to clear the stands if you so see fit. I have been at tournaments where the referee cleared the sidelines because the parents of a U-14 team were swearing. I would have to say that if I heard racial sayings coming from the stands, it would be all done for the spectators! They could go sit in the car for all I care...I wouldn't put up with it.

As lexington player #25 (i believe Hester) whiffed, muffed, missed the ball right outside south aiken's box, and right infront of south aiken's student section.. he witnessed the tuanting first hand.. i do believe he took it in stride by clapping with the students on his misfortune.
