Looks like its gonna be an all region 5 lower state championship. Who do you all think will win? I'm pulling for and thinking Dutch Fork is going to pull this one off.

Dutch Fork stole a win tonight, and did not play well at all. Irmo wasn't any more convincing, though they played a much tougher team. When it comes to a rivalry like this, nothing really matters except experience. DF is young is not used to being this far into the post season, where Irmo is there every year.
Irmo 3
Dutch Fork 1

Lex, your just jealous that such a young team is doing so good. It is going to be a close game on Wednesday night. I'm pulling for Dutch Fork for the simple fact that I want to see some other Columbia area high school in the state final besides Irmo or Chapin.

DF will come out on top...For two simple reasons...This is there Rival who they havent beaten all year, but could have very well have done so...and its to go to the State Finals...Hello you dont need any more reason than that...Everyone come out it should be and intense and exciting match...maybe the best match all year in the State...

This game will be one of the more intense games you see all season. The two teams are huge rivals and with so much to play for, the game will be that much more intense. No matter the outcome, this should be a very fun game to watch.

DF did not steal a win at HH. They played with heart and intensity and Irmo will need to be able to finish to get by them.

I did not say Dutch Fork didn't play with intensity and heart, because they did. What I am saying is they got worked up and down the field for a good 90 minutes. They were outshot and outworked in almost every position. Were they the better team? No. Did they win? Yes. That's the end of it. Hilton Head could not get a ball in the net because of phenomenal goal keeping, but as for Dutch Fork beating Irmo, its going to take alot more than decent goal keeping. Third times a charm though, records are out the door in a match like this. My money's on Irmo.

i was at the game, and saying that dutch fork got worked for 90 minutes isnt true...they got worked for a short period in over time. but during regulation, play was fairly even, and at times dominated by df and at other times dominated by hilton head.

Irmo is strong. They're always strong. Sometimes that's a disadvantage because of the pressure they have.

DF have all the talent in the world to even go for state. They can hurt Irmo a lot with kids like Dany Cates, Goolet, Drew Sams, Kerry, and they're solid in the back. Jason is good too.

I think Dany would come out strong and show everybody that he the best or one of the best freshmens in the state ( I said that). If DF plays smart, I wouldn't be surprise to see them going or winning the state.

DF has the talent, they just have come out to win, come out to beat Irmo. Irmo isn't great, I mean they're good but not as strong as they were the last two years.

DF definatelly have a chance, and I said this because I know who they got, and I've seen Irmo playing a couples of times. I know about soccer too!

They're both good, both have talent, so is all about coaching. Hoping that coach Q come out with his best player and his best strategy.

GO FOXES, NOW YOU GUYS HAVE THE CHANCE TO WIN IT THIS YEAR AND NEXT YEAR!

DF usually plays a boom ball type of game against Irmo. That isn't going to cut it this time. Irmo is going to possess the ball, and DF isn't going to be able to score too many goals off of fast breaks/quick outlet passes. Don't get me wrong, DF is a really good team, but their year is going to be next year.

Long balls can win sometimes... I mean that is not real soccer, but if you have the right people to play it... long balls is not bad.

Is all about about the Coach... If Coach Q put some special people on key players, and they get a goal early... DF can get away with it. DF Defensivelly is very solid, Nicky is a great captain... Keep would take care of Prince.

Dany can make it happen, he was the best player on JV last year as an eight grader. We'll see.

I wouldn't say is a 50-50 game, but at least is a 55-45, DF is looking better every game they play. We'll bring a good crowd too.

When you mix talent with a good strategy you can beat anymore... You saw Liverpol bringing down "SuperChelsea?"

That's how it goes DF win 1-0 or in PK's

GO FOXES!

Fernomeno, maybe before you start talking about DF so much you should learn how to spell their names, it's DanNy Cates, Carey Hite with a C and not a K, and it's Steven GoUlet, with a u and not two O's. To know so much about the team you are horrible with names. Another thing, a lot of people are saying Dutch Fork will win for the simple reason that it's a rivalry game and it's for a berth for to the state championship. However for Irmo it's the last home game for thirteen seniors and there wouldn't be a worst thing in the world to have your senior season ended at your last home game against your arch rivals as they go play for the state championship. There shouldn't be a single reason one DF player should want it more than any Irmo player. It will be a great match and DF is very good to be so young but Irmo has the experience and is my favorite to win.

Don't fool yourselves DFork fans. This is Irmo's time of the year. If they were going to lose, it would have been Saturday. As much as I hate to see it, looks like another title for the Jackets.

I've been watching soccer a long time and the quote above about this being Irmo's time of year is dead on. Great season for Dutch Fork and I'm pulling for you guys, but in the end I see 3-0 Yellow Jackets. Either way, I hope the Columbia teams beat the Upper State at USC!

Thanks for the corrections...

Who cares about the spelling and the talking, what matter is what happens on the field.

One of my friends from Irmo told me the other day,

"you like my ring... i have 2 more at home"

I said,

"that ring means you played for Savits, you want my respect? let's play some futbol"

DF is just as strong as Irmo is and i say that!

GO FOXES!

I would not immediately give Irmo the title as you state. First of all, they have to beat a very "hot" DF team tomorrow. That is a major rivalry and we all know what can happen in those type of games. Secondly there is another game on Saturday in which Irmo will play a team that they have already lost to once this season. I believe they lost to NW 2-1 in the LMC final and then lost to SA 3-1 during the regular season.

I think they have a very good chance, but the title is not already theirs. I am sure Irmo fans and players would agree also.

Just for a little clarification, in both losses that Irmo suffered, they had an ejection. In the SA game, they had an ejection in the 6th minute, scored first, and lead for a little while, while being a man down for 74 minutes. At full strength, I don't think that SA can hang with Irmo. As for NW, it was an early season loss, so it would be an interesting game....wouldn't that be the third time in the last three years to have that as a championship game with those two teams? We'll have to wait to see what happens in the Semis...

By the way Lowerstate4A, the loss to SA was 2-1, not 3-1.

DF seems to be "HOT" at the right time. They are healthy and Irmo better watch out because its gonna be a battle.

yes, Irmo was a man down in the 6th minute, and they should have been. The defender took Jamal out clearly not going for the ball as jamal had a break away and would have most likely scored.

It isnt Irmo's year.

I don't understand how you can make the point that DF is just as strong as Irmo. They've lost twice to them by less than they probably should have. The scores in both games did not reflect the possession or shots on goal Irmo had. In both games this year they have dominated Dutch Fork. Another point is that Dutch Fork is a 3 seed while Irmo is a 1 seed and they are out of the same region. How in any way is the statement that DF is just as strong as Irmo legite in any way shape or form.

I'm not in any way trying to take away from DF. They are having a great season and yes they can win the game because anything can happen in soccer. They are very young and very good. They're super sophmore class is scary and will be one of my favorites to run at the title in the next two years, but Irmo is loaded with talent and leadership from the huge senior class this year and I think DF can not match Irmo's talent if Irmo comes to play which you can bet that coach savitz isn't letting any of them overlook they're rivals especially in a championship game.

Congratulations to Irmo and good luck to them in the finals. Bring the trophy home to region V. They brought it in the second half, calitalized on a mistake and played great the rest of the way to finish the game.

Secondly, but probably foremost on my mind, great job Silver Foxes. Nick, Mark and Connor, you will be missed. Don't be strangers. To the rest of the Foxes, the future looks bright in the next few years. Hold your heads high, you managed to make the lowerstate finals while playing in front of hostile crowds game after game. I lok forward to following you guys for years to come.

Once again, good luck Irmo.

Even though this game was the most lopsided this was by far the most competitive game. The play in the first half was no more than 50/50 and DF probably controlled the pace of the game a little better. They were able to disrupt Irmo's style of play and limited their possesion. In the second half Irmo came out with a bit of a swagger and was able to capitalize on DF's mistakes and after the first goal they just never looked back. Another solid game by Moody. Congratulations DF on a wonderful season and look foward to seeing you guys play in the future. The future of DF soccer is very bright, great game.

It was a very well played game. The first goal was unlucky for DF. The last goal you really can't count because DF pushed up all of their people and had 2 defenders trying to get a goal. But Irmo deserves the win. DF will be very strong for the next couple of years. Good Luck to Irmo in the finals.
