Randolph School and Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL are co-hosting the 2nd annual boys Southern Soccer Challenge in the coming spring, Fri-Sat, March 31-April 1, 2006.

The format will be eight teams, double elimination, cup and medal flights. All teams will play three games. This is a one game Friday, two games Saturday format. The games will be played at Randolph’s soccer field and Grissom High School. The fields are about two miles apart. Both fields are full size hybrid bermuda, overseeded with perennial rye.

If you are interested in playing in this tournament contact me at the information below. Tournament fees will be $200. A coaches hospitality room will be provided at each field for participating coaches and visiting college coaches. Last year, each player received a tournament draw string bag/equipment bag. Our tournament plan is to attract top high school programs to compete, be seen by college coaches and provide some quality matches. College coaches are invited and the list of participating teams are made available to them. A website(currently down) is Southern Soccer Challenge.

Last year’s tournament participants were Grissom (Huntsville, AL), Randolph (Huntsville, AL), Father Ryan (Nashville, TN), McCallie (Chattanooga, TN), Farragut (Knoxville, TN), Altamont (Birmingham, AL), Christian Brothers(Memphis, TN) and Evangel Christian (Cordova,TN).

To date we have commitments from Grissom (Huntsville, AL) and Randolph (Huntsville, AL). We have tentative commitments from Norman North (OK) and Broken Arrow (OK) -- awaiting school board approval. McCallie (2005 cup winner), Farragut, Christian Brothers (2005 medal winner) and Father Ryan have expressed interest in returning.
