Wow. I cant remember four teams so deserving than than the four that are still playing. Thoughts on Northwestern/South Aiken. I think Arroyo and Benson, match up well versus Geathers and Gustavson. My prediction is Northwestern 4 South Aiken 2.

I personally think that Seth Oprea comes in off of the SA bench and scores a hat trick to win the game, thus advancing them to their first state championship game.

the bench combination of Andrew Busbee and Seth Oprea is what Waters has been saving for this team. Under the radar attack..

SA Goals Scored - 103, Goals Against - 8 NW Goals Scored - 146, Goals Against - 13
With some of the best attacking players in the state, I hardly doubt any fluke goals will be scored as you put.

I think the horseshoe has to turn some time, so why not this year? Northwestern is a great team, but I think South Aiken has been the best all year. Geathers over Arroyo, Gustavson over whoever, SA midfield over NW, Finotti over SA's coach. That's 3-1 SA!

There is no way Northwestern will score more than 2 goals on Goose.
My pick is SOUTH AIKEN 2 NORTHWESTERN 1
Jamal and someone else for S. Aiken
Arroyo for Northwesern

Hey German, I already picked SA 2-1, with Jamal 2 and Arroyo 1. I believe the official rules say that the 1st post with the correct score wins the pot of money.

I agree, Northwestern will not win the game. They played less than a hand full of team all year. The score may be close, but not the game. Just like the Eastside game until they had a man tossed. Eastside completely dominated, and Norwestern scored two goals on defensive errors.
Go SA

People may say that Northwestern plays in a weak region, but they still played against more ranked teams than South Aiken...including a 4-1 record against teams in the final four of their division. Why do people keep putting them down?

I used to know how to get their old schedules, but the web page has been moved or something...but in 2003, Christ Church was 8th in the state of all teams, and they were 19-4 with the 17th best schedule in the state. I wish I could say who they played, but 17th is a pretty high schedule, and I'm sure they beat some good teams.

Don't forget, South Aiken has also played two teams in Georgia that both went far in their soccer playoffs, A Greenbrier team that lost in the quarterfinals and an Evans team that is still alive in the semis that they beat 8-1. Just thought I'd throw that in there for the S.O.S.

Jamal Geathers, plain and simple is the real deal. Are you joking me. Congrats to Northwestern and Coach Finotti, on a great season and for being a class act. With Arroyo, and Benson, back next season and the Martinez, kid arriving soon it should be fun in Rock Hill, for years to come. Congrats again to Geathers and Gustavson for a great job and to Coach Justin Rhodes, for developing all that talent in the Aiken area.

arroyo's first goal was far post-goose was out of position...1-0...jamal tied it with a goal-ball was bouncing around and he tapped it in...1-1...jamals second goal was quality upper 90 shot from the 18-the ball came right to him on a miss clearance...2-1....the last goal resulted from nhs sending the whole team up-it was 3 vs the keeper....3-1....nhs had their chances to score they just couldnt put it in the back of the net- great game by both teams

Saw it. NWHS looked flat the whole game. I don't know if they were respecting the speed of SA, but they just looked tired. SA won every 50-50 ball and every ball in the air. Geathers is the real deal. Great speed, shot and handles. I was really impressed with SA's passing spacing. It is going to take a great team to beat them if they play like they did tonight.

I haven't seen South Aiken play since 2003, ironically, at Northwestern. I went tonight and was blown away. I felt they controlled every aspect of the game. Every time Jamal was near the ball there were at least 6 NW players on defense and there were times it seemed he would dribble through at least 5 guys. NW kept kicking out from the back, and it was headed back for a SA possession. Besides the goal at the beginning, it seemed NW didn't show a lot of offense until Jamal was taken off the field.
Before tonight, I wasn't sure about the hype...but like everyone has been saying: he is the real deal. His talent is amazing, and his athleticism separates him from the rest. I talked to Coach Berson tonight, and you could see from the grin on his face he's thrilled to have this top calliber player.
Congratulations to Coach Waters and the team.

I agree
NW came out looking as I heard they worked on in practice and actually looked like the team that had it together for the first 10-12 games this year. They scored on a tough shot, played upbeat off that goal for about another 5 minutes, and then fell back into a game they had played all playoff....
SA dominated the mid fielf because out mid field was at our full backs for some reason.
The other area was too many mistakes. Very little did NW settle the ball and make a clean ground pass. This was SA's game all the way through. NW kept the ball in the air with either a header or kick that just made it too hard to control.
If NW just slowed down and had a little more confidence, it would have been a better game.
BUT... Great season.
NW only lost to 2 teams that are Senior ridden and have many Premier Player on them.
Great season, and next year they'll rock-n-roll.
Good Luck SA... Don't need IRMO making another bumper sticker...

dext3r, don't be ignorant....you are asking if Irmo has class....I would respond with a resounding yes. The crowd wasn't happy with the red card so early in the game, and I am sure that they were a bit peeved. As for cheering when a man goes down, there may be some kids that think it is amusing, but I can't say that I have ever seen the parents think it is a good thing. Sounds like you have a biased opinion of what happened. I have reffed at many high schools in the midlands, and I can't recall any schools that actually cheered when a player went down, its usually somebody making stuff up to make the team and it's fans sound like a bunch of irreprehensible rednecks! Thats what I think is going on here...nice try though

i deleted the post, to restate myself.
and im still here..
The parents were not directly cheering for the downed man.
Situation:
Jamal goes down about the same time irmo makes a good defensive play. The play is stop to attend to Jamal. Irmo players are cheering about the well played defence. I commented to an adult (mother?) that there was a player down and it is respectful to not cheer while he is down.. and she kept cheering.
i do not consider the students or parents of irmo high to be rednecks... i have a home in lexington. Irmo and Lexington didnt get the size they are by taxing the homes of the average joe.

i didnt say anything regarding that.. did i imply that.. as i look back on my post it does seem that way.
i didnt mean to make any relation between rednecks and social status/ income. i apologize. nor in my earlier post did i say anything regarding irmo being rednecks, that was of soccerboy's imagination.
