Recruit is a strong and mis-informed word. Teams like AM, CC, and SCS don't recruit but are able to take people outside of their region unlike 1A teams. Though they don't recruit some kids might go their b/c of a certain sport that might not get near as much recognition as their previous school. This could help out with scholarships,etc... Not saying they do that by any means, but there is that option. That's the truth and its plain and simple.

I'm not going to say that they shouldn't be playing with public schools, because you don't hear any complaints when they're getting beat during football season... People start complaining when they know they will never again have the chance to win.

I say all of the teams just go in a back alley and bring knifes and chains guns and beat the crap outa each other, and whoever loses must be forced to be a private school...and the remaining one will be state champion for the rest of their days

Yes, we are able to take people outside of our attendance area, but how about this for our pitch.....

First, we are not a private school like Christ Church and BE. This is a common misconception. Therefore, the "scholarship" money argument has no basis with us. For the most part, our students have to provide their own transportation.

Second, I do not see our academic requirements at any of the other schools who are recruiting. Here is our recruiting pitch... come to Magnet where you are not only expected to maintain high athletic standards but you are also required to present a senior thesis and pass or you do not graduate. On top of that, you are required to take at least 4 AP classes your senior year. Also, after each year, the school is able to re-examine your benefit to the school. Each student is essentially on a one year contract with the school. If you do not perform to their academic requirements, then you are dismissed from the school and sent to your home school.

Oh yeah, and there are the Algebra 1 and BSAP requirements to even get into Magnet. If after hearing all of that, anyone wants to accuse us of recruiting, you are more than welcome to do so but if the above pitch sounds good to you, then you are more than welcome to leave your home school and come to us.

Coach H --

I've long wondered what the rationale was for allowing BE to compete against public 2A schools. I understand the student enrollment argument, but if ever there was a school that called out to be 3A in soccer, it has to be BE. Injustices abound in life and this is yours to carry. Felicitations to AM for their high level of academic achievement, their excellent soccer programs and their public school affiliation.
