I know that Nathan Arroyo, forward for Northwestern, won the Player of the year for 4A. Who won for 3A,2A,1A?

It's a composite classification award given by SCACA. There is only one boys and one girls recipinet. Congratulations to Nathan Arroyo of Northwestern and Julie Bolt of West Ashley for this fine honor!

I find it hard to believe this kid Arroyo is the best player. It pays to play bad teams, or at least in a weak region and score lots of goals. He goes from an unknown player in Atlanta last year to player of the year in SC. Only in south carolina. I can name 10 better.

then name 10 better then him. why cant u just congratulate him he deserves it. the reason he was an "unknown player" in atlanta is bc his team was terrible and he had a terrible coach. he led the state in points this year regardless of his stats in georgia. i believe nhs beat hartsville 13-0 so if ur just mad then stop crying.

13-0 ... point proven by scsoccermom
---> thats not even counting the Gaffney, Lancaster, and Rock hill games of that region (i shouldn't even mention York).
Poor regions can make great (emphasis on great) players.

I agreed with you Mid, in fact i agree that just about anyones speed and skills could tear any Gaffney, Lancaster, and Rock hill (i shouldn't even mention York) apart.

I saw him play at least more than 4 times, but I guess that wasn't enough for me to see is innate godliness. Maybe I should have seen more games so I could get on my knees and worship him(or whatever it is you do), just as you do.

I would just like to state that in the two games he played gaffney he only put in 1 goal and that wasnt really a goal because he bounced off another players shot but he got credit for it. But after defending our team. He is crazy fast and led the state in points. So as far as player of the year. He was the top scorer on the number 1 ranked team most of the year. So why shouldnt he get player of the year. Congrats to them

Congrats to Arroyo, he is brilliant with the ball and sees things many cant. The only other player I would have considered would be Goose. He had and amazing season. Allowing only 8 goals in 25 games. (the back up got scored on once.) However, Arroyo won it and I give him all the props in the world for it. Great season Arroyo. ------------- Hate it or love it the underdogs on top

For you lady's that think he only scored against the weak teams in the division and considering its the opinion of the coach's from throughout the state, the MVP is even a little more than points. You have to look at the total contibution to the team, their overall results and what kind of impact would it make if the player was not available. As someone stated, Goose is a great player, hell of a year but would SA not be as good without him? I think so. It was stated that the back up only had one goal on him sooo.... give their defense some love also.
Other Games
Dorman 2 goals 1 assist Dorman 3 goals 1 assist Sumter 3 goals 1 assist Emerald 2 goals AC Flora 2 goals Christ Church 2 goals Eastside 2 goals 1 assist
These teams are real...
Unless you want to call these teams weak also...

The three best players in South Carolina, are Gustavson, Geathers, and David Newton. The second group of guys includes Evans, Arroyo, Prince, Lewis.

The one game i saw Arroyo play in he didnt stand out at all, maybe he was just having a bad game??... i dont know, but i really doubt he is the best player in the state or 4A

There are alot of great talent out there this year, no doubt. there are always going to be weak teams and good teams to face. It just doesn't matter. But its how consistant a player is game in and out. What he adds outside of scoring. How a team responds as a whole around one sole.
Alot of people also state that NW is a bunch of over achivers year in and out. of course those are the folks that most likely were on the losing end of a game.
But remember, its the coaches voting not us, and a few of you are spectators not even players.
Don't hate 'em because you ain't em!
Wait till next year. You think NW overachieved this year! We'll see....
NW will be over achieving all the way to State!

For the millionth time lowvolt...
it not "loose" it's "LOSE"!!!!!
It's obvious as to why your rating is dropping.
All kidding aside, lowvolthas a good point. NW should easily be favorite in 4A to win state next year. I'm sure that someone will start that thread soon...

well you have to look at it this way most every "good" team in the state has weak region opponents that they have no choice but to face. From what i have seen Arroyo did score a lot of goals against region teams but he never dropped his consistency when they played quality teams so it seems that he deserves the title.

You know what.. I'm not sure.
I must have been drinking too hard last night or something. I'm starting to see the "loose" word when it's not there.
I apologize.

lowvolt...when you are trying to prove your argument leave out the A and AA schools (christ church and emerald)...that only hurts your argument...it proves everyone elses point when you play those schools...and i would probably leave sumter out as well...ill give you eastside and dorman

correct me if im wrong, but didnt northwestern play CC in their tournament? so they didnt really have a choice of whether or not they wanted to play them or not. also, didnt CC win the A state championship? if you have seen them play you know that they are far from a bad team and on a completely different level from the yorks and gaffneys and rock hills that NW has to play.

yea, and yeah kinda have a different meaning.
Anyway, Emerald has another great coach working there with some decent talent that would fair well in 4A
Just because you see the AAAA or AA, it only plays a role in the student body number at the school, not always how good a team is.

Come on Lower......you have to admit if you had to start a team you are telling me you would pick arroyo over geathers? I know it is player of the year but come on.....Jamal Geathers is the best player in SC hands down. I mean come on Geathers 2 arroyo 1 in the head to head....he had his chance ......Both are quality ......geathers is a bit more polished!

I did not say that I would not take Geathers, because personally I would take both of them. However, your logic is alittle lost. You state head to head. however, last time I checked, SA had the best GK in the state playing for them (that is a consensus of the board). I have not even seen the NW GK mentioned on here. Would Geathers have scored two if Goose was with NW? Who would have won the head to head then as you state? I honestly do not know
On top of everything else, Arroyo had others at NW who scored numerous goals. Geathers did alot on his own as evidenced by scoring 11 of his teams 15 goals in the playoffs I believe. someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that is what I read.

Ok guys....easy....your guy won it plain and simple...nobody is giving redo here....Lower you make my point for me 11 out of 15 while being man marked??? And yes he could score against goose w/ NW players....He scored against Moody (2nd best Gk) My point is that Geathers is a better player than Arroyo....Did Arroyo have more goals YES BUT I still think J deserved it a bit more. But thats just me. Arroyo is a great player...where is he going to school? I know he is a JR so who is offering him?
Coach ...everyone nominated was deserving..but I give credit to NW coaching staff for DOING THEIR JOB and promoting thier players!!!!

11 of 15 in the playoffs say's alot to me! How many regular season games did he miss when he was playing in S.A.? He obviously worked throughout the season, a quality schedule, but really turned it on when it was needed, in the PLAYOFFS! That does not deserve player of the year? Numbers aside(SA seems to have a tougher sched), who took their team further? Who is the better player? I think Geather's answers both.

USC, Seton Hall and Northwestern U are on the D1 list currently.
He would like to go to USC though.

Can I end this right now.. Jamal, although He might not be THE BEST in the state, earned that award this year and its too bad he didnt get it. He scored atleast one in every post season game and led his team to the state championship! What else is there to say.
