I don't have with me the most current South Carolina High School League rule book and I want to know what the rule is for a player removing his or her jersey on the field of play during a game?

From what I've heard and correct me if I'm wrong. (So that means someone must get out a rule book)

If a player removes his uniform on the field of play it is an automatic yellow followed by a red and an ejection from the game.

If that were the case, South Aiken would have lost both of their best players and that would have been a shame as the game wouldn't have been as good as it was.

you dont get a yellow followed by a red. you just get a yellow card. i am pretty sure that is how it is.

You just get a yellow, because I put my jersey over my head when I scored a little while back, and the ref told me that that was an automatic yellow...

So he carded me

Damn Soccerboy the game is over. Stop fishing for ideas. I seem to remember one irmo player who scored and would remove his jersey because he always had a superman tshirt on underneath. I guess we can discredit SA's win and every win that the irmo player played in when he played.

What do you say?

That was my dad posting under my name....I wasn't sure what the rule was either. In WI, if you take your jersey off, you are given a straight red. But I didn't know what the rule was in SC. Lowerstate4A, you seem to be getting perturbed. Want to settle this out on the field? Hopefully you were a striker in HS, I was a stopper.....and I liked to inflict pain on anyone that got close to my goal. I was from the generation that winning wasn't everything, it is the only thing.

I find it amusing then that a person who has been affliated with Irmo that long would question a player taking his shirt off when it was recently that the Irmo player did this. No one was calling for him to get a red card that would have changed the outcome of the game. Amazing how short some memories can be

Lowerstate, you are correct, the match is over and SA won. congrats to them on the victory and the State Championship. I have also read the volumes of posts regarding the "hand Ball" and the "non-goal". Those were split second decisions by the referee and the AR. Hopefully they did the best they could. If it was a hand ball or a goal has already been decided. Neither occured and it is gone once the play continued and can not be corrected.

However, from reading the State Newspaper, both Jamal and Goose pulled their shirts off and displayed a USC Soccer shirt. This is not a Yellow card. It is what is called a "soft Yellow" the referee should have displayed the yellow and red card together, sent off both players while allowing them to be substituted/replaced. Next year it will be a straight red card.

My only thought about this is a referee doing the State Championship match should know the laws/rules of the game and enforce them to the fullest. His decision to issue a yellow card only is incorrect and he had plenty of time to think about it.

Just my thoughts about this thread.
