I realize that we have yet to establish the correct ruling on removing/lifting one's uniform over your head, however, can anyone tell me why two players from SA did this and only one received a yellow? I don't want to discuss what if's and scores, just curious to know why the ref only gave one.

Well, that would be okay, except that they both ran into the middle of the field together. Kind of hard to miss.

soccermommy,
I don't mean to interrupt this mother/son bonding, but the Ref did see Jamal pull his over his head. He did not see Goose pull his over cause his back was to Goose. For all the Ref knew or saw, Goose could have just been adjusting his jersey or something else, and not performing an act of excessive celebration as he did see Jamal do.

striker, I haven't been disrespectful to anyone on any post, please don't do it to me. For the record, I don't even know soccerboy, as I stated in a different post, I actually have a child playing soccer at Irmo. All I wanted was an answer to my question. Please feel free to not address any of my posts if you're bringing your attitude with you. Thanks.

I believe that I read on another post that the ref was questioned by one of the Irmo players about this, and his response was that he did not see Gus (or Goose) take OFF his jersey, he only saw him putting it back ON. (huh?)

Now, personally, I think that answer is a little silly. Sure, I understand that the ref did not specifically see the keeper doing that, so he couldn't give him a yellow card for it, but he had to "KNOW" that is what he did. That's what the ARs are for. So, he could have given the keeper a yellow card based on the ARs observation.

And, I am not blaming anyone for anything here...merely answering the lady's question (okay, and adding just a tad of opinion).

tell ya what...

why don't we just forfeit the state championship to Irmo because the referee did not issue two yellows to jamal and goose, they did not call a goal on what the irmo contingent resoundingly calls "an obvious goal", the referee did not signal for a penalty at the "obvious handball" (they have it on tape!!!)

That referee and his crew did the best job all weekend. Did you see the Girls 4A final??? That was a bad referee and it turned out to be the most exciting game I personally saw all weekend, despite him. I don't see Fort Mill or West Ashley complaining. I don't see anyone else complaining for that matter.

The garnet jersey and garnet shirt is a very good explanation. The ref's eyes were on Jamal after he scored and the ref started marking in his little book thing and when he looked up Goose was on his to the net and Jamal was in front of the ref. The ref issued the card to Jamal and then turned around to look at Goose who was adjusting his jersey. As the ref went over to inquire, senior captain Rob Sucher looked over and talked to the ref and then went and talked to his goalie.

Even if Goose got a yellow card, it would not have mattered. There was no over the top physical play from him that would have led to a red card. The backup keeper could easily hold his own for 5-10 minutes while they regrouped to get them back in. The whole post is really irrelavant and I mean that with no disrespect whatsoever.

Who honestly cares. The guy was showing his love for his future home. In case anybody missed it the final score was 1-0 South Aiken. Congrats to Jamal, for showing the love and mega props to Goose.

Yes, it was a nice goal. However, since I was unsure myself, I replayed the news from Channel 9 and the cameras managed to film both boys in the center of the field with their shirts clearly off..celebrating with their team. I'm not saying anything regarding the outcome of the game, what is - IS, however, I don't understand STILL why the referee chose to only penalize one person. Forget which team we are talking about, making a call here regarding the issue - not the game. Clearly, if the news cameras had time to film the incident, the referee saw it. (Personally, I don't feel it is a warranted offense, again, my issue is why for one and not the other?)

Soccermom, for the final time... We know you don't want attitude. We from South Aiken (and elsewheres I assume) have explained it over and over. It doesn't matter what you saw on the camera. What did the ref see? Jamael with his shirt off and Goose adjusting his about 10 seconds later. He never consulted the AR's, so he could not have made the proper call. I am from South Aiken and agree if Goose had been seen he would have gotten one, but he didn't. So leave it at that. Congrats again SA.

Please accept my humble apologies statechamps. I was under the impression that there may be some actual knowledge to be gained here. Didn't mean to disturb anyone's banter. Especially yours. I have definitely learned my lesson. How silly of me to think I might actually come away with something from this. So sorry to have bothered you......YES now that is sarcasm.

someone give me goose's address so i can buy a referee uniform, stroll out to aiken and knock on his front door. When he answers I'll blow my whistle (without a ball in it btw), call for the scorekeeper to stop the time and then present him with his yellow card.

Oh, did I do something else wrong? Is there an age limit too that I forgot to consult? Maybe it's past your bedtime then? Besides, I took my ginko before I typed anything...ha ha ha. See you guys..I sure hope some club team has some kind of controversy over the summer so y'all have something to do. GO IRMO!!

I swore I was never going to post on this site again due to response when I received when I questioned a coach's actions a semi-final game, but I gotta say that SOCCERMOM4EVA IS MY HERO!!! Sometimes sarcasm is lost in cyberspace but not this time. Thanks for putting the SA player in his place and giving me a hell of a chuckle. (Isn't it amazing the response you get when you ask a question or voice an opinion?!?) Us "old ladies" need to stick together!

Is this forum being taken over by soccer moms? It can't happen! Next, we may see the forum decor and background changed to flowers or bright colors. Yuck! Can't they be assigned to their own pastel post area with lpaf as their monitor?

Striker, don't make me have to come over there...Don't worry guys..we moms, who drove you from the time you were little, who kissed every scrape and bump, who cheered no matter what happened during the game, have no intention of taking over your little "man" thing here. However, you do need to post a sign "He-man woman haters Club" or something, so that one of our sisters doesn't wander in here unprepared again and get herself into trouble. I shudder to think what could've happened if I didn't get out of here when I did. Just remember guys..YOU put the soccer in SOCCERMOM...you AIN't getting it back!

But soccermom, all the while that you were patching up the wounds, hauling the guys to practices and games, (while dads played golf or watched WWF on TV), ya'll were complaining to each other about ALL you do.....
and on top of that you developed little, neat social female cliques, so you could gossip about the other moms and what they were wearing and why you didn't like this or that other mom.And just one question; when your soccer days are done, is that when you become desparate housewives?

Otay 'panky, wasn't it "he-man wimn haters club"??? You're funny SM4eva! Hey momofcn#18! What was the diagnosis on the keeper, muscle tear or broken bone.

Don't you know that if you've an intelligent, productive, taxpaying member of society you're just stupid. You have to be a immature, homophobic, super genius to post here. Oops, I'm in the wrong place.

Seriously, it reminds me of being at a college game one fall evening, and hearing some local HS boy players criticizing the girls team from his school who had won the state title. They were talking about how the girls couldn't compete against them, and how so and so on his team was gay, and how everybody else sucked. It was so cute. What's curious is rumor has it his mom's a stripper. Can't figure out why he had such low opinions of strong, competitive women. Funny though, the boys team hasn't made it to the state finals yet. Go figure. Just can't match wits when my opponent has none. A good day to all you ladies, you too girls, you know who I mean!!!
