I know from what I have seen so far, the top offensive underclassmen in the midlands seem to be: Sean Flynn, sophmore, SV Jugal Dalal, sophmore, Irmo Byron Quinatoa, freshmen, Dreher
Who are some other young players that will make their names known this year?

Nice PR. Since he leads team in scoring and all-tournament at Byrnes, think he is somewhat decent. Or as you would say, he is a good player.

wando has two quality underclassmen. Hogan (soph.) starter; as well as Lundy (fresh.) who could start in any game, he also provided the win for wando against bc with a nasty free kick near the end of the game;

Ralphy Lundy had a goal today against Colleton that was one of the most incredible individual displays of talent I've ever seen. He took a shot from about 25 out that hit a defender and came back to him. He then proceeded to dribble half of Colleton's team in the box, through heavy traffic, and then burn the keeper. He'll be a team by himself when he's a senior. As for Luke Hogan, he's also extremely talented and is very solid on the outside.

Is he "legal" (per SCHSL requirements)? Seems to be alot of this in the Lowcountry and am just wondering since he's in Greenville and doesn't fall into the same scrutiny. [ March 06, 2006, 02:25 PM: Message edited by: Kyle Heise ]

Corner Flag, Everything that comes out of hammers mouth from this point should be ignored.he should be dead to everyone. he owes this young man an apology.what an ass.
there are no better freshman than enzo and sebastian. Lundy is a nice player but those two boys are in a different class than everybody else. This thread should be over.

This thread has just been brought to my attention via a Private Message. I don't know who Sebastian Velasquez is, but I assume he is Hispanic -- is this correct? I've heard of his ability and if I'm not mistaken, also heard that he was a Junior Scholar at Greenville HS. Since I didn't read this thread until receiving the PM, I understand how the "Hammer's" comment has been interpreted and I will edit that post.
However, from the other point of view, this is a current "hot topic" with the S.C. High School League and the validity of foreign born players and the authenticity of birth certificates, passports, permanent papers, etc. I'm not implying that those circumstances have anything to do with S.V., but do know that it's an issue that Principals and Athletic Directors are going to have to deal with in the Palmetto State.
As for the gangster posts, my position stands the same today as it did 2-3 weeks ago. I'm not going to have the Message Board subjected to that kind of crap! There are plenty of other places to discuss that information, but www.scsoccer.com will not be one of them.

Kyle, I think you are missing the point here. I don't think anyone is disputing your stance on the gangsta banter. You have made it well known. I believe the more serious issue is a poster coming on here and making racial overtones towards a specific kid not people making a parody of a musical genre.
One is a game; the other is serious.
Finally, for anyone to say that Sebastian is not close to being in the ballpark of any player in SC is juvenille.

Honestly, kids...adults...grow up. Read what Kyle wrote. It is a very heated issue right now within the coaches association whether or not "illegal immigrants" (ooo look I said it too!) should be allowed to participate in High School athletics, since they have to be schooled per the national legislation. My understanding is that if a child merely shows up on the steps of the school with no papers, passport, greencard, phone bill, electric bill, anything he has to be educated. Does this apply to after school sports as well? This mainly affects soccer for obvious reasons that anyone should know so I'll spare you blatantly admitting non-racists the harsh realites.

thanks for sparing everyone the harsh realities. Here is a reality for you. This issue is not about illegal immigrants and their role in high school soccer. The issue is about one kid being singled out.
You were just told like it is ace.

the comment didnt really bother me that much, but obviously a few people did take offense to it. i dont even know what the gangsta thing is about, but it would seem to me that something that people are taking offense to is much worse than some white kids trying to act hard on a soccer message board.

By who? You? Honestly, what kind of comment is that? Don't pretend to be some joke of a personality on the message board. There's only a few of us that effectively pull that off.
Closing point on the topic. If Sebastian Vasquez is a an "illegal" then he has some heat coming his way in the future and his coach should be aware (I'm sure he is). No doubt, he's a great player (never seen him play but apparently he's legit; Nastradamus is his pal4lifeDAWG, RIDE OR DIE) Hopefully it will get resolved in their favor because it's just, for the lack of a better word, stupid for kids to be allowed to participate in school but not athletics.

Look at your signature. Does that explain it. Clear enough for ya.
Before you go spouting off at the mouth you need to get your facts straight and understand what you are talking about before you get your knickers in a wad.Ready- Sebastian is not an illegal. Hope that wasn't too fast for you.
You are pulling your personality off quite well- misinformed court jester.
I'll agree with you about the bigger issue but that is not the point here. It might not be a big deal to you, but if you were Sebastians parents how would you feel. Sorry for going on and disobeying your closing point edict.

gentlepeople.... legal, illegal, shmegal... they are kids and should be treated as such. Decision making of adults for right or wrong reasons should not be in the discussion. What about foreign exchange students? What is the difference?
Move on to other things, there are plenty of talented kids to talk about.
Shall we forget the silver medal win by the Ice dancing pair that included a Canadian born athlete who only became a citizen just before the olympics? Heck they were national champions and she wasn't even a citizen.

but that's just it. It is the point here. That's what The Hammer was trying to shed light on. That's what Kyle changed his post to. It's not racist. It's a point he was making that people like you have blown way out of context. Sorry "chap" but The Hammer isn't a secret code word for the Grand Dragon of the KKK from SCSOCCER.COM.

So much for your closing topic. You lied.
The hammer did not say "there is a problem with illegals playing" he said, before Kyle edited the post, the name of Sebastian Velasquez. That, "chap," is a big difference. Now,Jester, I'll be true to my word- it is my closing thought.See ya in the funny pages.

442, it has nothing to do with what school posters go to. it is the issues that i responded to. import got on here ranting about either himself or his kid - what? then, you get on here pumping up freshmen or sophs (yourself) - this is the issue that i had. are there some good players at fort mill - sure. there are good players at a lot of schools. is it cool to identify those players on here - sure. but, it is rather conceited to get on here and talk about yourself.

Enzo is the best. He makes the rest of the team around him better and hes a good team leader. He also likes to get the ball right back if he loses it, unlike most strikers who sometimes dont like to get back.

Preston, Enzo, and Sebastian are all good but are very different players. DSC plays fairly direct with Enzo nosing for the ball all over the field. Preston and Sebastian play more within the framework of a system. The stats on hotstat have Enzo with 12 goals and 2 assists. Sebastian with 7 goals and 4 assists with CESA scoring 25 goals and DSC 24.You can draw your own conclusions.
Athletically Flynn is better but he is also a year older, but not technically as good as any of the boys above.Athletically, Sebastian is behind Enzo and Preston but, in my mind,is technically better.

I wouldn't take away from that list, but i would strongly advise adding Reel (lexington) Flynn (Spring Valley) and i'm sure there are 10 players that could fill an excellent 18 man premier team.

thats where the other 10 players come in! (plus Danny plays defense for the region team...and thats another great one left off your list lookatme, and he's probably the best of all of them in his natural position).

I think that is something that gets overlooked. No defenders have been talked about here. Cates should probably be mentioned up there in the top 5 regardless of his position and then if you put him in his position would rival enzo for the best in the state.

ralphie is not that good unless in the last year he has gotten alot better. cause all the times ive played against him. he really didnt do anything. but i didnt play against him last year.. so maybe he hit a growth spurt and got extra fast.

i need to go back to school but u cant add. Sebastion 1, enzo 2, preston 3, jugal 4, ralphie 5, and luke would be the 6th. I think preschool should be required for kids with iq's under 90.

Since we are on the topic of preschool, "your" choice of "your" is wrong. It should be you're, the contraction of you are.

I think that Rudi Hellberger is still one of the top underclassmen in the state. He is capable of playing any postition on the field with skill. He is a very strong sweeper, and a huge asset on the Fort Dorchester team. Two other big assets on Fort are Randall Eads, and Justin Keys. watch out for Fort.

Goin' back to Billy B's comment...imagine a team with Enzo and Sebastian together..rumor is Enzo and Alex are coming to CESA next year to play on 90 Premier..that would put Enzo and Sebastian together. What a team!

Sure wouldn't surprise me if Enzo and Alex moved to CESA so that they can play Premier league. Unless DSC is able to "work" their way into Premier it sure does sound possible...we'd love to have them.

What would they get at CESA that they are not geeting at DSC? Clubs need to grow good players and not try to take quality players from rival clubs..If this happens, then we are dilutting the quality of competition that we meet each weekend

Ok Nastradamus.....enough with the stupid ****. You must be a loser and have no life if "you're" a father and are talking on this website. Don't you have a wife you could be doing better things with? Or do you not get any and that's why you get on this site?

In no way do I think Alex or Enzo will be at CESA next year but there are some good reasons why they might.
1) DSC may get in to Premier League but there is a fair chance that they may not. If they don't, playing in the SC Challenge League does nothing for them.
2) DSC has had a difficult time maintaining a full roster. They had 11 or 12 most of last year. They were hit hard by injuries but there was no pool to add quality players from.
3) Alex is playing a year up. Somewhere down the road a decision is going to have to be made about this. He is certainly holding his own but as he gets older a close eye needs to be kept on his development, not to mention he will be aged out when he hits U18.
Having said all that,I admire what this team from a relatively "small" market has done. They have been great for SC soccer but to say that this can never happen or never should happen is short sighted. It may not be CESA- it may be another club. I think this year will go a long way towards answering those questions.

ENZO and Alex can go to cesa. Cesa still would not be able to hang with bridge this year. to much talent in the bridge team.

Correct me if I am wrong....CESA beat BRIDGE at state. So it is fair to say that Bridge can't hang with CESA.Right? If they want to beat CESA they need to put some of that talent in their back line

Randall Eads, Justin Keys, and Rudi Hellberger are definitely 3 major factors for Fort this year. Rudi gets better and better each season, and with the talent of Justin and Randall the Fort can dominate.

This particular freshman class (90/91 club age) has a significant amount of talent. Looking solely at the 90 Bridge teams here's a list of players, that are having an impact at the varsity level. I'm pretty certain there are others, but I don't know their particular HS situations.
Brandon Chambers, West Ashley Randall Eads, Fort D Rhyne Garrity, Waccamaw Justin Keys, Fort D Geordi Khoury, BE Ralphie Lundy, Wando Porter Massey, JI Preston Meyers, Lincoln Robbie Owens, West Ashley Eric Rastogi, BE Malcom Reed, Pinewood Dan Riley, South Aiken Ausin Savage, Stratford Joseph Sweet, Pinewood Brandon Tyner, BE Justin Barlotta, Summerville Travis Farnham, Academic Magnet Trey Hilton, West Ashley Trey Riedmayer, Pinewood Shane Robinson, West Ashley Daniel Scheeler, West Ashley

No disrespect to Bear or bridge, but Onthefield, I am willing to bet that any freshman or sophomore that has played challenge or higher has an impact on the team.
To name a few: Autenzio at Dorman, Camilo at Hillcrest, Cates at DF, Jugal at Irmo, Sean Flynn at SV, Caliison at Lexington.
I am sure that if each challenge team posted their roster for U15 and up you will recognize names in their respective HS squads making an impact.

futbol,
No disrespect taken. This thread has gone all over the place. Many of the players on this list have already been mentioned, my only intent was to highlight the entire list of players.
I would agree that underclassmen that have played at the challenge level impacts their respective teams. I will say that in some areas, there are some very good players playing JV simply because there isn't room on the varsity roster with upper classmen.
I intentionally limited my list to those in the U15 age group, playing at the varsity level. This list, as well as several of the other players singled out, is a testament to the depth of this particular age group, which was evident during state cup play. Additionally, what I find really interesting is that some of the players play different positions for the HS teams than their club teams. I think that produces more rounded players.
And I also agree that Challenge team rosters for U15 and up all have recognizable HS players. But I think you'd have to agree that 21 or more players from a single age group (U15) is pretty impressive for this group of Bridge FA underclassmen.

It is impressive to the extent that they are all quality players. But I have to say that I would have expected them to be involved.
I agree that there are many who are playing JV only because of space or playing position.
It is also very good to see them play in other positions as this will most definetely make them better.
My only point was to say that other club teams have fared just as well this year and last year.

I have played with some of these players on the ODP level and it is outrageous that "BEAR" has listed some of the players. Eric Rastogi? Geordie Khoury? Rhyne Garrity? Porter Massey? To say that these players are not any good would be an under statement. I can't believe they are listed as some of the good rising "stars". If being on the "B" team of south carolina's ODP team makes u good then u are missing many players who should be listed. I have 1 question, Why is Eric Rastogi on your list?
