Ever think maybe Colleton played their BEST game of the season? Why is it so hard to give the underdog team credit for stepping up and playing a close match instead of talking like it's the end of the world when the favored team doesn't get a blowout? When you make comments like "We must have played a horrible game if they came that close," you're demeaning the other team when they most deserve some credit. How about a little sportsmanship? Kudos to CC for making your presence felt.

john mcclam did score dreher's first goal off a pk. i think coach rowell would know who his players are, and if he credidted the bc goal to the wrong player it was likely due to a number confusion by the statkeeper, an honest mistake.

Danny Wooderson, what do you have to say about BC's dominance of the region now? I did not want to bring this up before the game as to not have it put on the locker room at BC but the bearcats are 1-6 vs dreher in the last 7 tries. Thats right BC has beaten this senior class once by one goal at BC last year. Hardly what I would call dominating the region.

Very dissapointing result from the Pendleton perspective. Game was 2-2 at the half.

Shut up:
My apologies on the id of the player. My stats keeper wrote down #7. I remembered #7 and #3 both starting on the ball. One ran over it and the next one hit it, but I couldn't remember who. In baseball, a seeing eye single is a hit that finds the gap in the defense. Sonefeld's free kick "saw" or found a ball width gap in the wall. Hence the use of the term. It was well struck by Les. McClam did take the PK and Thomas Thunell did score on the header.

As far as being "three sheets to the wind"...in reality I'm old and married so I came home after the match to see my family and eat some bbq.

It was a great match and as I said, typical Dreher/BC rivalry action. I believe this makes 16 of 25 matches that have been decided by one goal.

Coach Chass: Your point is well taken. I certainly meant no disrespect for Colleton, as I said they played hard. If you had seen the game, you would understand that HH victimized itself with a lot of individual play and that they got away from playing good, fundamental, team soccer that would have produced a blowout. Frankly, the score was irrelevant to my assessment of how HH played last night. Their first goal was the result of beautiful play. The other two were not. Colleton was quick to capitalize on HH's mistakes and very nearly forced overtime. They have some very athletic young men on their team, but no where near as many experienced soccer players to stay with HH, Fort D, Summerville, or Beaufort playing near their best. Of course, that's why we play the game. George Mason is in the Final Four even though no sports writer in America picked them to get there. The bottom line is Colleton Co. showed up to play and did their best. HH should evaluate their effort last night.

OldRef,
Very well put. Even when a very strong team like HH has an off night, their opponent still has to step up well to take advantage. Having coached on both sides of the uneven matchup situation, I am reminded not to get too caught up in my own team's mistakes to give the other team their due for what they did right. I have a lot of respect for any underdog team that has the tenacity and the drive to put themselves in the game if the stronger team so much as blinks, rather than rolling over and conceding defeat from the start. It's how strong teams are forged...and it helps the best to stay on their toes and not get cocky (and thus sloppy) when they know someone is knocking on the door if they slip.

Kudos to all the athletes and coaches out there who play their hearts out no matter what the odds...it's what love of the sport is all about!
