How did this "scrimmage" turn out? Which HS was it?

Pretty cool that they picked that up mid season.

Quote from the Island Packet,

After gathering to watch European soccer at Jump & Phil's restaurant on Wednesday and scrimmaging against a vacationing Kentucky high school team , The Seahawks take on Summerville for the second time tonight and continue to prepare for next weekend's Palmetto Cup tournament. The Seahawks, undefeated in Region 8-AAAA beat the Green Wave on penalty kicks March 21.

you did not have to bring the Seahawks out like that. You obviously dont remember that they have already won the 4A state title b/c they brought in the greatest coach ever!

What I thought it was cool that they got to play a Kentucky team. I just wanted to know who it was. Can they NOT scrimmage in the season?

Keyser -

The reporter from the Island Packet mis-reported the scenario. In fairness, she was there to interview two Hilton Head High players for a feature that runs in the local paper (every two weeks they interview a player or two from a local school and run it in the format in the referenced article), not to cover a scrimmage.

The Kentucky team was the U17 team from the Lexington Soccer Club in Lexington, Kentucky. They are in the midst of their season and had come to Hilton Head as a team (along with alot of their parents) during their spring break to train. They contacted our local Club back in January and we helped them get a few friendlies together (some in Savannah) while they were here to break the monotony of training. The "scrimmage" referenced in the article was against a collection of local (Hilton Head and Bluffton) players from U16 through U18. Justin and Christian participated, although they actually played for Mt. Pleasant Soccer Club last Fall.

Its not uncommon for visiting teams to contact the local Club and ask for friendlies. We've actually thought about promoting it with our local Chamber of Commerce, but nothing has ever really come of it.
