Devon McDonald from Lakewood has 43 goals according to the local Sumter Newspaper.Thats the most I've heard of so far, though a couple of kids may end up with more.

If the 43 goals were scored within 3 games, that means it was too easy.

if he did this in three games he would have to break the state record three times for goals in a single game to accomplish this!!!

I think a forward from Lincoln has over 50. Check on it. I'm pretty sure.

although scoring 43 or 50 goals in a season is great, you have to consider the teams that lakewood and lincoln play. after that kind of consideration it is not so impressive.

It doesn't matter what teams they play!!! The object of the game is to score goals!!! They can't help where their parents decide to live and make a living!!!

In the case of the young man from Lincoln,he has proven his ability to score goals in other tougher venues, therefore you would tend to give legitimacy to his goal totals. If only the only area of success a player has had was against weak competition one tends to be more skeptical.

So what if a kid's parents couldn't afford to pay for him to go to Cardinal Newman, Wilson Hall, etc. or wealthy soccer rich regions such as Charleston, Greenville, Aiken, etc? This is the only way some of these kids can even get attention if they wanted to play at the next level.

i was not implying that they are not good players. i was simply saying that the only reason they have scored so many goals is because they play weak schedules. you cant tell me that these kids, however good they are, would score 50 goals in regions such as region 5 for 3a and 4a. no way

I watched Preston Myers play. He is very impressive & he was a freshman this past year. I think he ended up with 57 goals. I have heard he is a top college prospect.

I am sorry but some people just have no Idea what they are talking about. Yes Lakewood did play some easy teams but they also played some respectful teams like Dreher where Devon McDonald scored 2 goals. Also for those that don't believe in the kid, he just received a full paid scholarship to play college soccer. I say we need to respect all that play this great game congrads to all who play high school or college soccer. Every player has my respect. For those who want to criticize other players, I lace up and play against them. I am sure after 90 min you will find some respect.

Devon McDonald just got a full ride to Newberry I believe. I know Coker was offering partial. That is where his brother plays baseball so it would have been cool to see him there but things did not work out.
