dreher 7-0 st james
at memorial stadium, carl did his best brittany rush impersonation and scored a hat trick to lead the blue devils over the sharks. john mclam added two more goals. a throwin just brushed drew leatherman for another and the last goal came off a own goal where the ball bounced off the post and hit a st james's players head and went in nothing he or the keeper could do.

Lugoff-Elgin - 1 Seneca - 7 4-0 at the half Score pretty much says it all. First 3 goals for Seneca came off headers. The aerial barrage continued throughout the match.. high arching corners and throws. Without Ricky Taylor LE didn't have much offensive production. However, junior Clark Hannaway scored his first goal of the season (and his career). LE stepped it up in the 2nd half..but after a BRUTAL collison Tanner Hayes the anchor of the LE defense had to leave the game with a piece of his tooth in hand! Better pressure..but too many holes in the roster to make it competitive. Best of luck to the Bobcats in the next round. Word was Jason Vitaris is a goal away from some record at Seneca. Also.. I was very surprised by their facitility. Nice little field they have there. Wish it weren't so close to the road though..hard to yell over the noisy cars Lastly, Lugoff-Elgin graduates no seniors.

WOODRUFF 2 broome 1
Woodruff out lasted Broome's final push at the end of regulation. Broome in the second half had a crazy amount of long throw -ins and corners but only capitalized on one. Woodruff finished the game in the final minutes with a game winning goal from there forward JT. Well played game and best of luck to all of Broome's graduating seniors. Coach Siatkowski

Ben Lippen 4 Hammond 0
Shots: 16-4
Goals: 15th min Kyle Tyler (Dunbaker) 29th min Kyle Tyler 52nd min Joel Nordestrom (Tyler) 78th min KC Dunbaker (Chang)
Ben Lippen ends the year 9-1 and outright region champs. They face Beaufort next Monday at home for their first round game, and I believe Hammond still has to play Wilson Hall, but will inevitably face Pinewood next Monday.

Summerville 2 West Ashley 1
Great game....WA scored in the first minute of the game and led until under 2 minutes in the second half when Summerville exploded for 2 goals. One of the better finishes I have ever seen even though it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to...good luck in the next round Summerville.

Typical PG-PP rivalry game. PG came out strong early scoring on a defensive mistake. Both teams exchanging goals but PP's offensive threat was hard to stop. The win tonight makes PP 15-6 and 10-0 in the conference. PP will be Region Champs for the 4th year in a row with a win over Northwoods Academy on Thursday.

Palmetto 8 - Gilbert 3
Palmetto shrugged off a 2 1/2 hour bus ride to take control after the 15 minute mark in first half. They gave up two goals in the first 15 minutes. The Mustangs then woke up and put together their best all around game of the year.
Goals by Palmetto: D. Mahaffey (3) F. Ignacio (2) J. Veres (2) H. Brooking (1)

Wando - Beaufort Game Wando scored first with about 20 min. left in the first half on a p.k. (poor call). Then they came about 7 minutes later and scored again after the refs missed a handball by the player that scored. Then Beaufort's left d. player scored from about 35 yards out on a beautiful shot to the upper 90 of the back post. That was followed up by Beaufort's forward taking advantage of a bad touch by a Wando player, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie at the half time. remained scoreless 2nd half until less than 2 minutes on the clock to play. Ref once again missed a foul from a wando player in Bft's box and allowed the goal. End of game. Well fought game by beaufort. they really wanted it. congrats to them for ending their season almost defeating wando.

Wando 3, Beaufort 2. Wando gets up two goals in the first half, one off of a PK and one shot from inside the 18. Beaufort answers back with a rip from about 25 yards out and sails right into the net. Then with about a minute left in the first half a cross was served and Beauforts forward settles it and volleys it in from just inside the 18. Second half was scoreless until about two minutes left Wando gets a goal and the game ends 3-2.

hsift u wanna cry a little more the pk the kid held him the second goal was a wall pass (i guess he could have sat down and picked the ball up but i didn't see it) the third goal u may have a case for bueforts first goal of a mistook cross which turned into close to the nicest shot i have ever seen. caught the keeper or the line. second goal questionable offside but i think the kid was on. all in all extremley well played by buefort

How does South Aiken continue to win when the coach pulls names out of a hat to pick his starting lineup. It amazes me how they continue to win.

Wando dominated early then relaxed and let Beaufort get back in the game. 2nd half - again Wando had most of momentum. Last goal was result of Wando player not giving up on a missed shot, fighting for possession and then crossing the ball to an open teammate on back post. Beaufort played very well and you can tell they are well coached. Ref called it very tight in response to a lot of VERY vocal and complaining parents from Beaufort. I was surpised he didn't call something on last goal. It was a physical play

Refs are not out there to please the parents, heck, they aren't out there to please anyone really. they are to call the game as the game happens, not as someone (or a group of people) want it to be called.

As I look at the lower state bracket, a couple of things stand out. First, Region 6 did not manage to score one goal in last nights games. Pretty sad. Beaufort impressed me both times I saw them against HH. They will be very good next year, as I understand they have a young team. They really tested Wando last night as I knew they would. I was not surprised that Summerville pulled out a win over WA last night. They are very tough at home. They stay at home for the next two games and could upset SV on their home field. Fort D had a good season, but clearly fell off a bit at the end. They'll be back tough next year also. All in all, no real surprises, except mild upset of S'ville over WA.

What was the story with Riverside and TR going into PKs? Maybe I am out of the loop with high school soccer but this seems unbelievable to me. I know it is playoffs and anything can happen but wow! Is there anyone that attended this game that can help me figure this out.

Definately not a good performance by Riverside. Let's hope this is an aberration or they will be going home early.

The shot that ended up as Beaufort's first goal was definately not mistook cross. That was an amazing shot.

i think it was a cross that turned into an crazy awesome shot combined with a horrible mistake by the goalkeeper caught off gaurd who, in my opinion, if he attempted to stop the ball, could have jumped and either tapped it over or caught it.

okay i am kidding then, i give in.
no, i promise, maybe if he put a hand up it wouldnt have gone in. a normal size keeper can stick their hand up and touch the bloody cross bar. if, since the keeper was maybe a foot or two off the line, stuck his hand up, maybe it would have stopped the forward momentum of the football and prevented the goal.
why he did not do this? i do not know. i know what you will say though " cuz it was a great shot"
im not justifying the fact that the goalkeepa dudnt stup the bull, but it was a stuppable bull.
