Irmo has a tradition of being the best and I think that if they can get past Dorman then they could go all the way.

Spring Valley always has puts up a good fight and i think that if they can get past Ridgeview then they will make it to the finals.

Aiken on the other hand is a tough one to predict anything on. They have had a good team the past two year, but they lost a lot of important players last year and unless the other players can pick up their game and play as a team then they might have a chance.

As for South Aiken they will have a pretty good team. If Barnes does good in the goal and he controls their backs then they will do a whole lot better than they did last year.

And Ridgeview, you can not leave them out. They always have a good run. They lost a lot of players last year, but they have potential of being good.

I dont understand why all the 2A and 3A teams talk trash toeach other. Cause nobody cares about these little schools. There just not important. Nobody remembers these little schools. I know there are alot of people who agree with me too.

Every year someone has to bring up the topic of why do other A's besides 4A even bother....i'm tired of it. Same responses every year. So lets just say this. And I think the majority will agree with me. There are crappy teams in 1A, there are crappy teams in 2A, there are crappy teams in 3A, and there are crappy teams in 4A, There are great teams in 1A, there are great teams in 2A, there are great teams in 3A, and there are great teams in 4A. Nobody wants to see Irmo beat up on some school that doesn't have enough kids try-out to cut anyone. And no one wants to see a power house like Chapin or B-E beat up on a 4A school that is lacking like O-burg. There are kids getting scholarships to great schools just because of soccer in all A's...and there are kids that will never touch the ball again after high school in all A's.

Does that make sense to you? And since this thread is about 4A...contribute something regarding 4A...

I can assure you there are a lot of people in the Chapin area..and the Charleston area that remember last year's championship match...or a lot of people in Greenville that remember blowing out B-C... I can also assure that Aiken is the only one that remembers them leaving the playoffs besides the team they played and me. Not like I have any room to talk...but hey..lets recognize that no school is perfect...whatever "A" it is.

There..i've said my piece...lets just leave it alone.

I was just sayin that all it takes for a smaller A school to be a good team in there league is to have four or five good players. So when they talk about being the best in the state it doesnt really mean anything. Sorry you got affended man. I'll try not to hurt your feelings anymore.

thank you G11...that really means a lot to me...right...

Anyways...I've watched the top teams in 4A over the past two years and the championship teams always seemed pretty predictable...but this year..i'm not sure. I've heard RV lost a ton of players and will be fielding a mainly lowerclassmen squad. I've also heard SV has lost a lot of players to behavior issues. I would think that Dorman's championship sophomores and freshmen of 01' should be a force this year in 4A. Of course Irmo should be in it but there isn't much info from Irmo yet on the board so there is no telling what they have or don't have. Sumter could have a really good year. And there is always Dutch Fork and Lexington.. So from my perspective it seems to be up for grabs...you never know. Can't wait till the season starts.

G11-
If you think all the smaller A schools need is a few good players, let me draw your attention to a few different results:
Greenville beat Dorman
Brookland-Cayve beat Summerville and Stratford
Bishop England beat Dorman and Ridge View

Also, it is very difficult for schools outside of AAAA to schedule schools that size. AAAA athletic directors have various agreements that, for the most part, set their schedule for them. We don't really know if the top AAA schools could compete with the top AAAA schools b/c they only play each other in the pre-season or in tournaments. I have just given a couple of examples where top teams in "smaller A" leagues beat top AAAA teams. Allowing the top teams, no matter what level, to play each other more often would only raise the overall level of play.

Very well said Voice.I've been saying for yrs.that S.C. really doesn't have a true state champ.Chapin could have won it all last yr.Sumter could do it this yr.. And Dreher{if the Shandon connection is intact}could do it next yr..and for 2 yrs. after that.

Since Irmo isn't saying anything......they will have a few more strong years left, especially this one. Their senior class is loaded, and they have a lot of outstanding younger players to keep the tradition going afterwards. So, I think that Irmo will once again be a force to be reckoned with this coming season. (Don't forget what happened to them last year...they have some motivation)

alright, lets get one thing straight, RV is done. They arent gonna be competitive this year or years to come. They have very little talent left on that squad.
and in response to the question about the other A's; sure there are teams from each class that can contend to be a premier team. but for the exception of chapin, bishop england, and 5 or 6 3a teams, no one can compete with decent 4a teams. they are in a higher class for a reason. they have more people, and because of that, they usually have more talent.

there are no good 1a teams or 2a there may be a couple good 3a teams but all the quality teams in 4a= you are right that there are crappy teams in all a's
