It comes down to these two teams in the lowerstate. Both very strong teams. Wando has already lost to SV 3-2 in Palmetto Cup. Who wins this game in Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday?

The crowd factor may come in to play. I know there was a strong showing at the Wando-Irmo game and even a decent away showing at the HH-Wando game. Wando tends to get a big head after important wins. That may be a factor also.

Some people might say that who ever scores first will win this game, but Wando has been down first the last two games and won. It's going to come down to who has more heart and who wants to move on. I can't wait for this game, and if you are planning on coming out to watch look forward to having a great game to watch and loud (sometimes obnoxious) cheers from the Wando fans, who are the best in the state in any sport.

crowd presence will be huge...but at the same time, Wando is NOTORIOUS for coming off of big wins and being cocky. They've gone two in a row...it will be interesting to see how they come out against Spring Valley. The first 15 minutes could very well be the determining factor of this one...I guess we'll have to see. I dont know about you guys, but im stoked...kinda jealous too...

I think alot of it has to do with how healthy Paddy Flynn will be. The more healthy he is, the better the chance is for SV. It was fortunate that RV didn't have as strong of a team this year and that SV could afford to sit him out in the most recent game, if he's close to 100% then theres a much better chance for SV to win then if they didn't have him. But either way I gotta go with my boys...

SV/Wando in the Palmetto Cup was certainly a very entertaining battle. Decent crowd for both sides..so I think if SV can bring a crowd..take away a bit of that homefield edge Wando will have..they can advance.
Will they do it? I'm not sure. Wando is on a roll..and have had the tougher road here. Beating Irmo 4-1 has really made an impression on me..but with Sean Flynn, Zach Houghton, Parker Arnold, Davis Jenkins, and hopefully a healthy Paddy Flynn..there is no telling.

Spring Valley has a lot of talent... They should have beat Ridge View worse than they did. Wando was come off of two HUGE wins against quality teams in Hilton Head and Irmo. I see both teams coming to play but i think Wando will have more momentum becasue of their High Scoring wins against Irmo and HH. I really want Spring Valley to win, but i doubt it, especially with Paddy Flynn being questionable for wednesday's game.
Wando wins a close one 2-1.

LEdudeman, Since you saw Wando-SV, do you think SV can win without Paddy or a 50% Paddy? He is the main one that makes that team work.

Well, first of all, I think he'll be better than 50%. I watched him warm-up pretty closely against RV..and he was taking shots, cutting, running, on it as if he were 100%. Of course..that isn't game speed..but I don't think a lack of Paddy Flynn will determine the game.
If anything does it..it's traveling 3 hours..to face a big turnout. I know this SV team is focused..but a 3 hr drive can unravel the best post season teams (see Irmo). I really hope they bring a good crowd down to IOP..and I'd be really disappointed if it weren't a close one.
I made a 2-1 prediction in SV's favor earlier..so I'm sticking with that. Though the only thing I'm really confident in..is that that prediction is wrong! So yeah.. we'll see. Best of luck to both sides. Whoever wins..they deserve to be where they are NO DOUBT..and they will give NW (or maybe Mauldin) as much as they can handle.

Oh come now Jack. Let's dispense with the political correctness "(or maybe Mauldin)". You don't think Mauldin has a snowball's chance in hell, do you? Why bother putting it on there?

Because I didn't think they'd have a snowball's chance against SA..and especially FM! I've seen NW three times..I know they're the shiz-nito-snap-bam.. I defended them hardcore when all the strength of schedule crap was going on.. just saying..you never know man. It's playoffs..it's HS kids.. it's soccer! You never know!

wando was a great example of how hard it is too come off a long bus ride and get ready to play. they started off really slow in HH and were fortunate to gain momentum to carry into their dominate second half. even more unfortunate is it is during a weekday. if spring valley can get over that hump in the first half it will be a great game but give the edge to wando with the home field advantage.
plus they are straight solid killaz.

The last time these two teams played it didn't seem to be the best game each team had to offer. A bad call towards the end of the game, resulting in a red card (second yellow) for the Warriors, really made the teams eager to end the game. I believe Wando and Spring Valley will both be well prepared for the game Wednesday. This will be a high pressure game that will leave the winning team in high spirits for the best the Up-state has to offer.
No prediction.

Bad call...I'm assuming you're talking about when Sean Flynn was shoved into the post, which was given fitting yellow card.

whatever kind of crowd SV brings to the game will have no effect. the wando crowd is too big and too loud. i was extremely surprised to see how many ppl came out to the irmo/wando game.

The way the ref. handled the situation wasn't good. He was shoved into the post but, one ref. said the Wando player didn't and the other did...the play resulted in Sean Flynn getting a yellow (for some strange reason) and an ejected Warrior.
Whatever it was that the Viking did to get a yellow is beyong me.
A question benp, I believe you would know better than most...Say in this situation, if the refs. don't agree on a play, what gives one ref. authority over the other? (I honestly don't know the answer, and I don't mean any disrespect for your opinion because I agree with the call just not the way the ref. handled it)

I talked to both referees after the game. And it wasn't so much dissagreement as not seeing it. Because the play was off the ball, the near referee didn't see it, he was watching other areas, where the ball was likely to drop. However, he didn't question the far referee who did happen to see what had happened. If however, they had dissagreed, the decision is basically up for grabs, and the one with the more dominant personality is likely to win. I guess whoever is closer is the one who makes the final decision, though I've never run a two man.

I don't think the crowd handled the situtation very well either. Both sides! The play was very conjested..the SV parents screaming for a card..had no idea who had actually fouled Flynn.
Flynn got the card for language (lucky to only get a yellow).
To bring this back to the present.
I like the fire/passion SV plays with..and they need that to win tomorrow..but sometimes it can bite them in the arse.

One more fact about the ejection. As I understand it from players on the field, Sean told both refs and the coaches after the game that he was not pushed.

from what i heard about the previous SV-Wando game is that after Sean received his yellow, he used some pretty foul language, and said something that could have warranted arrest. any one else know any more about what he could have possibly said when he got to the bench?
expect this game to be a battle, especially since there is already bad blood between the two. i still think wando will win a close one.
but if he wasn't pushed, what caused him to be thrown into the post with such force, or so it seems, i was not at the game and im only posting what i've read and heard.

The specifics of this incident, I think are a moot point now..and won't have any impact on the game tomorrow..buuuut..
I was about 8 rows up when Flynn came off the field after his card. I heard EXACTLY what he said (as did the SV crowd)..and it doesn't need to be repeated here. All that really needs to be said is.. if Flynn can learn to channel the energy he has been focusing at refs and other players..into himself..he'll be a phenominal talent! ..better than he already is.
As for being pushed/shoved.. no way. As I remember the play..at least 4 players went up for a ball. Sean Flynn comes down off balance, his shoulder/neck hit the post..with his hands up..he didn't hit his head..as I could tell (i'm sure he made a point of protecting his already broken nose)..but he did lay there as if he'd been knocked unconscious or something.
The Wando player Andrew Eppelsheimer that was charged with the foul on Flynn had to be at least 3-4 inches smaller..and 20-30lbs lighter. Pretty hard to believe (in my opinion) that the biggest guy on the field was owned by someone Eppelsheimer's size. When they all collided Andrew probably knocked Flynn off balance..but he didn't SHOVE or PUSH or anything malicious like that.

obviously i am a biased fan, but wando needs to start off strong, at the HH game they started out a little rough, and Spring Valley is a great team so at this point I think it is anyone's game unless Wando starts out strong in the beginning

Thanks L-E Dude, and you're right it is a moot point now. The one play we happen to be challenging was the one play in the game I missed. I guess that's just my luck. All of our predictions could possibly happen tomorrow. These two teams are of the best calibur in the state and, this game will come down to who wants it more. Good Luck to both teams.

I know the Wando players were very disappointed in the girls losing to Irmo (3-0) tonight and promised the situation would be different tomorrow night. However, it is certain by what i heard tonight that Wando has become extremely confident. From what i have heard on here though, both teams have. Its going to come down to whoever can set their minds on the game and focus. Cant wait to see how its going to go down...

WandoFan'84, Coach CJ Rozzi is retiring from Wando HS after three years at the helm of the Warriors program to spend more time with his family.
A successor has not been named.

Bob: Game was Friday night at the Palmetto Cup. Both players were falling after a contested header. There was contact as they went down as the players tried to break there falls. As a parent, an obvious no call. As a referee, both players were playing carelessly so I'm not sure.
As for Wando's "injuries"; one of the boys in question is my son and when he went to bed last night he wasn't injured. I sat with the other player's parents last night and talked to the player. He looked good also.
Good try though

Rock n' Roll Bob wasnt the center ref - and if anything - the referees were favoring the home team with the majority of the calls - really dont wanna hear the complaining for their loss - great comeback by SV

I would have to agree with you ManUTD, it did look like the center ref was favoring the home team. It was a well fought match by both teams and it came down to who wanted it more and Spring Valley showed it in the second half!

hey bob, ur refereeing was BULL$*** last night. and i kno u were the linesman right next to the play where the wando outside-mid got nailed and u let the play continue and it ended on a paddy flynn game winning goal. definately not trying to take anything from SV bc they played amazing last night but it couldve been a different game.
and i kno its you thanks to ur signature

Ill agree with ManUtd...but ive also gotta agree with Lampshade...that was a very crucial non-call. Shevlino got layed the hell out last night and there was no call, paddy flynn gets it, dribbles a few people and hits a nasty shot. Shevlino proceeds to nearly be trampled as SV's bench erupts(understandably so). The blown corner kick in the final seconds was also a horrible, horrible call but hey, officiating is just as much a part of the game as any...what can ya do?
Also, don't get me wrong. I'm not discrediting SV at all...they played a hell of a match. Good luck at state.
