I'm pulling hard for Lincoln. If they win...just wow. Have any of you ever been to Lincoln and seen where it is?

The 2A game I could careless. BE probably wins, smokes pot afterwards and gets into several brawls down in 5 Points. BE administration gives them brass knuckles and a bong instead of a state championship ring to commemorate their fine season.

3A will be an impressive game. I'll say Dreher pulls it out 2-1 or 3-1.

4A NW wins in a close battle 2-1.

I'll look at 4A. First of all, I am absolutely shocked that Fort Mill beat both of the teams playing for the 4A state championship. I would never have expected that at the start of the season.

I'm pulling for Northwestern. This is their third trip in four years to the final. Their time has come. The big field will play to their advantage and I really think they will finish their chances. Remember what they did to Farragut. They are not going to put up a touchdown and a field goal against Spring Valley, but if they get that offense rolling......

It don't get no better than to have 4 local teams in finals. Irmo, BC girls Friday. Dreher, SV boys on Sat. Get out there Fri. and Sat., and support your respective teams. NW, Dorman, Riverside will bring a ton of fans, too.
PACK THE STONE!!

I really think Lincoln might be able to pull this out. They've been flying under the radar all year..and have some pretty impressive results.

Lincoln - 3
CC - 2

BE/Walhalla..who cares.. I'm pretty sick of BE now.

I was telling old benp the other day..that if any team from the lowerstate can take it home this year..it's Dreher. They have the keeper..the defense..the scorers..and they play the right style of ball. They're tough enough..fast enough..and they have the skill to beat Riverside. I'll have to admit..I don't know much about Riverside..but beating Daniel 3-1 is impressive..ontop of their win over Greenville. So..it's going to be a battle.

I'm hoping..

Dreher - 3
Riverside - 1

As for 4A..I don't know what to say.. I have to go with Northwestern because I picked them long ago.. but I honestly won't be disappointed with either winner..as long as it's a close match. That being said.. I'll say..

NW - 2
SV - 1

for 4A..This should be a good one. My heart is with NW but I think Fort Mill, Lexington and Mauldin demonstrated that AGRESSIVE play in the midfield can be enough to put NW off balance. The trick will be to do it without accumulating the yellows as Mauldin did, or worse,a devastating red. If SV can make those 'meaty challenges' (Newcastle magpie!) without seeing the card than I predict a penalty kick finish and several heart attacks for the fans. Toss a coin on who.

who_me i agree with you that this may be a close game, decided in the final minute, ot, or pk's. i'd expect northwestern's line up to be a little different than most have seen in the playoffs. enzo has been playing up top rotating with andrew phillips on the smaller pitch. now that we are on a larger pitch i would expect to see enzo rotate back to mid with kropp and phillips up top. the larger playing surface will allow enzo space to be crazy....i have a sense that enzo will do something spectacular. 1-0 nw

SV cannot hurt themselves with their mouths. If they lose one of the Flynns, the game is NW's easy.

I'm going with Spring Valley and Dreher. A majority of the seniors on these two teams played together on the U18 state champion NECSA Ambush. I'm hoping that that experience will give them a slight edge on Saturday, in what should be two very close games. Let's bring the rings to the lower state!

DITTO!

SV needs to be aggressive to keep NW off balance..but they have to keep it under control and just play the game. I think this one depends heavily on what kind of game the refs call..and how SV handles it.

CC has no idea what's in store for them on Saturday.

BE 5, Walhalla 0
Walhalla has no chance.

Dreher 2, Riverside 1
Best game of the day.

Northwestern 3, Spring Valley 1
Northwestern finally has all of the pieces in place, and this is their year.

Ben Lippen 4, Pinewood Prep 0
Irmo wanna-be's will show everyone why they are the best.

As always, it's the upstate's in AAA. Riverside is really surprisingly strong, fast and skilled. I didn't see the Grvlle match, but they certainly had the better play vs Daniel...didn't dominate by any means, even closer than 3-1, but had the upper hand.

Upstate 3- 1 lowerstate losers again

If Lincoln wants to beat CC, then they simply have to be very physical and take #10 out of the play. Their whole team revolves around #10, and they beat most teams with physical play and winning the ball in the air on throw ins and corner kicks. If Lincoln can get shots on goal they will score, CC's keeper is not strong in goal.

First of all this should be a great game. Depite NW looking invincible after the P.C. they have looked mortal lately. I believe that SV will finally be able to silence the critics who still believe in the patented "choke". SV 2-1 NW in regulation or 2-2 regulation with SV sinking all 5 pk's to win.

The statement above about having to take out #10 from CC is accurate but something ive noticed on this board is that the guy #6 has not received nearly enough attention this season. That guy is an absolute beast. He looks like he spends hours a day in the wieght room and he has very good soccer skill and relatively fast as well. If lincoln focus' solely on Armin then #6 will kill them. I want to wish Lincoln good luck but after seeing what CC is capable of from a coaching standpoint I honestly dont know if there are many teams around this state period that can put them under easily. I think if you switched the upper state for 1 and 2A it would be better mathces honestly.

everyone has so much jealousy, sorry i mean hostility towards BE, i wish everyone would just quit hatin and not talk crap about stuff that u have no idea wat ur talking about (shut^andplay). how about we just look at how BE got to the state finals with 2-0, 7-1, and 5-1 obviously they deserve to be there with most likely the youngest team in BE history.

O they'll win and deservingly so. They're better.

But what about the parenting? Are they better people? Doubtful, and isn't that what high school athletics are about? Building better men/women?

Um...do you play soccer? In no way will SV lose by more than 2 goals, and I think they are going to win. To say that they will lose 4-0 is an absurd prediction. You must be extremely biased towards Northwestern or do not know much about soccer.

shut^&play do u know one kid on the BE soccer team. no i didnt think so. u have no right to judge anyone. u dont know anything about the BE adminstration either. they r so anti-soccer it is not even funny. if it would have been the basketball or baseball team smoking pot no one would have ever heard about it but soccer they dont care about. and 95% of the kids who got in trouble for that incident was bc of hearsay. as far as i know no soccer players were actually caught with any pot and even so a couple were expelled just on hearsay and multiple others were suspended so there goes that theory of urs. and as for them not being better people i dont see them goin around judging people they dont even know maybe u should take a look in the mirror. They r a very yooung team and are not as experienced so tempers might flare occassionally but i also heard this isnt the first time barnwell has fought so i am assuming that BE prob would not start a fight when they r up by 4 or 5 goals. that doesnt make much sense to me.

Damn chillin, do you take any English courses down there at that school? If I am still correct, it is YOU, not u and ARE not r. Maybe you are the culprit in the pot smoking scandal, you spell like you are high! But most likely you are just some young hardcore thug wanna be.

DHSocca06, are you serious? It is his opinion, why trash him for that? Do you play soccer? I wouldn't say Northwestern won't win by more than 2. They are very talented, just like SV, but explode on the larger fields. I just don't understand why you would sit there and bash WhatDoesItMatter's opinion. I think you are absurd

As for the predictions:

Spring Valley- 1
Northwestern- 2
-- NW will make use of every square foot of the wide pitch and distribute the ball wide from their own defense forward stretching their game..this will give SV some trouble. However, both teams are stocked with mature players with plenty of final games like this under their belt and the pressure shouldnt hurt either team. I think NW has had enough of not getting their State Title ... Toss up game and a great one at that...Best game of the day.

Dreher-2
Riverside-1
-- Toss up game. Looking forward to playoff PK's where Dreher will win it. Tied for the 2nd best game of the day.

BE-4+
Walhalla- 0
(BE controls every aspect of this game)
Most boring game of the day due to BE's .

Lincoln-1
CC-2
CC is of course is a quality team but some of the defense is weaker and Lincoln may slip one by at the most. But, CC will take full advantage of the weak areas of Lincoln's setup and put a few in easily. Looking forward to this game. However it may go the other way and a good chance at this happening. Tied for the 2nd best game of the day. Id like Lincoln to take this one but its going to be tough. .

Bright...you'll learn all about shorthand when college comes around....u's, r's, thru's (through) all come in handy when taking notes. As for the BE thing, i don't know the details, and they don't really matter anyways. Things like that happen (BE is not the first and won't be the last) and whomever was "involved" is probably kicking themself right now. I was involved in a similar instance during the fall of my senior year and luckily was able to earn my coach and parents trust again. Two of my best friends messed up again and therefore did not get to enjoy our senior year championship. YOU ARE KNOWN BY THE COMPANY YOU KEEP!..the hand of one is the hand of all...and people at your school really do look up to you and expect more whether you know it or not. You've got your jersey on alllllllll the time....everywhere you go.

I think everyone is forgetting that SV also plays on a very big field at home. So the large field tomorrow will benefit not only NW but it should also help SV.

From an older thread:

Northwestern's field is 114 yards x 80 yards.

Don't know the dimensions of SV's field..but it is soccer specific..so it's as big as they want it to be..looked plenty big to me. So i'm thinking field size isn't an advantage either way.

Yeah, NW definitely proved that they can play well on a big field in the PC, but SV also likes to spread the ball out and utilize Flynn and Parker in the midfield. I'm pulling for SV so I say each Flynn brother has a goal. SV contains Enzo and Cropp and wins the decisive battle in the midfield. SV 2-1

I'd also like to add that if it is possible, I think Sean Flynn is an underrated player. He's such a force up top not only with his raw ability, but also his size and toughness. I would much rather play against a quicker craftier player than have to mark up Sean Flynn. Sometimes can get into trouble with his mouth and play a little dirty, but I still look for him to keep his head in the game tom and show up big.

i'd be surprised if either of the teams win by two goals...and if it does go into pk's you gotta like dreher's chances with rushe in goal. that being said, dreher wins 2-1.

dhsocca is a terrific soccer player and has played both teams explaining his opinion...for our game im gonna agree with the post above me that this game will not be decided by two goals. i dont know anything about riverside besides that they beat greenville which doesnt exactly make me feel good. but i think itll be 2-2 in regulation with dreher putting one in in the 2nd ot. look for benny smith to have a big game.

If I remember right from last year, you can stay, its a one time entry fee. But I'm not sure how it goes for reentry.

Dreher-Riverside will be closely fought and will most likely not be decided by two goals...i agree with the prediction 2-1 with Dreher coming out on top and representing the Lower State for the first time ever. Watch Leatherman and McClam in the midfield to have career games

Riverside is a very physical team. They have a few players on their team that are great with the ball at their feet. As for Dreher, they have size and skill, simple as that. I don't believe that Riverside will be able to contain Dreher.

Dreher 2-1.

Dreher scores the first goal from a shot by McClam.
Dreher scores the second goal off of a set peice headed in by Drew Leatherman.
Riverside scores the final goal of the match by number 22. I'm sorry I don't know his name but he's very crafty with the ball and scores a great goal in the 60th minute.

Theres my two cents.

i dont know much about riverside but im expecting a pretty close and intense game. the entire dreher team has all the motivation they need and look for them to try and get things going early. i dont see dreher being overmatched in the air so expect a goal or two via header or a follow after a header.

that being said...ill stick with the 2-1 prediction as well in favor of the blue devils.

After months of hype, arguing and wishful thinking, lets all just go downtown and see what happens. See you there! [Big Grin]

Don't take away anything from Dreher man. Riverside earned their two goals and a state championship, but Dreher's goal was earned as well, and was with 10ish minutes left, so not too late, and not without hope of an equalizer.
