Touche. And I'll heckle you relentlessly from outside the gate.

FYI: I'm a superb heckler.. such lines as "YOUR FUNDAMENTALS ARE ATROCIOUS!" or "THAT WAS A POOR CALL MR. OFFICIAL!" are a standard of my heckling repertoire. You have been warned.

-If Daniel were repping the Upstate..I'd be a bit more torn. As far as I'm concerned though..Riverside has had more than their share of glory. How selfish of you upstaters! Can't we just have one down here?

buzz, again, that's what I was looking for. I even said myself in the opening that I had not seen any games that were decided by officials, but wondered, after all the talk of officiating if anybody really thought that the officials dictated a game. I am sorry that you have to endure the horror that is Jack! But maybe you will never feel his wrath, I know if anyone ever said that to me, I would cry and cure cancer!

have i seen a game where a ref made a call that decided a game this year? no, not one call decided a game but failure to make calls on muggings inside and outside of the box does decide games brecause the tenor or the game changes when the ref allows physical play to dictate instead of passing and combinations. the lack of calls is what usually decides games because defenders get more and more aggressive to the point that they put saddles on fowards in the box. so no, i havent seen a game decided by 1 bad call, but i have seen several decided by failure to make the calls so that we watch football instead of the beautiful game.

My favorite was a JV game where they called "handball" near the box, giving the opponent a free kick that led dirctly to a goal. The opponent had 2 shots on goal all game and we lost 1-0. The handball call? The player was hit in the face, not hands, and had to leave soon after for the blood dripping from his mouth. The lost was due to our inability to score on 15+ shots but that horrific call directly led to the only goal.

Consistency is the key to good officiating. If one team has a player go over the back of another player, and it is called a foul, then PLEASE make the call when the other team does it.

When a ref misses a call chances are he didn't see it. When a ref consistently calls a game allowing or not allowing play at level that makes parents or coaches unhappy that's life. When a coach yells at a ref (even if the ref is wrong) he is knowingly violating the spirit and the rules of the game. Who is the worst offender? When parents constantly yell at the ref, not completely understanding either the rules of the game or what the ref saw and that teaches his son or daughter to lie on the field when not really injured and letting the opponent score, Or worse causes his child to be disrespectful to the ref and receive a card. Who is more at fault? I think we all need to consider that fact that in general we, by acting that way are much worse then the ref who didn't see it. Those actions are worse still when it's an 8 and under game with a 14 year old ref.

Sorry but this was a girls game but same thing. Emeralds playoff game with SCS.. final few minutes left in the second 10 minute overtime.. game tied ref is standing 5 yards from the box facing the SCS keeper.. ball is shot at the goal bounces off player.. EHS girl has possession of the ball and is pushed down from behind in the box by SCS player. The players all stop expecting a call.. with hesitation the ref waves his arm for play to resume. This was a critical call that should have been made. Everyone saw it, he saw it so why would he not call it, who knows was he afraid to make a call that could decide the outcome of a game. This might sound like sour grapes but it is not. He had a clear view of the play but chose not to call it. That is what I am talking about, hesitation, not sure what to do or call. SCS travels down the field gets corner kick bounces off post into net time runs out they win . Classic example.
