I have a feeling that the fact Greenville lost both matches this year in penalty kick shootouts has something to do with why the Red Raiders earned the #2 spot in South Carolina's final rankings. Those outcomes are recorded as "ties" everywhere but the S.C. High School League and after all they came against 2A #1 Bishop England (0-0) and 3A #1 Riverside (4-4).

However, I am a little miffed that Tennessee and Virginia each have four teams ranked and the Palmetto State has just two.

When all is said and done, it comes down to politics and whether or not the coach knows the right people and rubs the right elbows!!!!!

Trisoc4, I really don't think politics has anything to do with this poll, because many of us don't even know each other, except for the fact that we send the rankings to Kevin Denson, who compiles our region's poll with the help of a panel that has a teleconference during the weekend. Other than that, there is very little discussion of the matter.
