With completion of the regular season, who will win the girls 3A title? After seeing Riverside several times this year, I would pick them as the odds on favorite. The thing that makes Riverside so tough is their defense. Although Katie Heos has had a great season, having three seniors in Amy Devine, Erica Devine, and Kacie Deon in front of her makes it very difficult for the opponents to score. These defenders are fast, smart, and know how to defend. Erica is one of the best players "in the air" around. She never misplays a head ball. With this defense and Lindsey Beam in midfield, Riverside will find a way to score at least one goal and their defense will shut everyone out. The pick is Riverside.
Eastside and Greenville are both very good teams but lack the overall speed to really challenge the Lady Warriors. It would take a near perfect game by either of these teams and a subpar performance from Riverside for either of these teams to advance. The return of #21 for Eastside improves their speed on offense, but defensively, they are young, make bad decisions, and are slow.
Greenville could be the surprise team as they are very solid and can hang with anyone. Their goalkeeping may be their soft spot.
