Personally, I think this one would go to the sweeper for lexington, #6, not so sure what her name is, but damn, she's straight sick back there! (not to mention she looks good too!)

Dutch Fork has several outstanding defenders this year, but Naomi Greenfield (#9) is truly special. Also, Laura Spear (#11) is a sophmore transfer from VA. She's very quick, physical and hard to beat. This whole defensive team has posted several quality shutouts this year.

Danielle Jordan from West Ashley has to be included on this list, she has speed and reads the game very well.

Yea, they're OK, but I still think #6 for Lexington ranks as one of the best in the state. I also forgot to mention #3 for Lexington... don't know what I was smokin' to forget mentioning her. Well there you go, the top defenders in the state!!!

I'll offer two great defenders:

Chelsea Terry of James Island would have to be on anyone's short list of best defenders in the state. She's athletic with both strength and speed and her first touch is great. She can also be brought up to offense if needed.

Danielle Jordan (West Ashley) is in a class by herself. She is an olympic quality athlete who also plays great basketball. Her speed, especially instant acceleration, is probably the best in the state and she controls the ball with her feet with more skill than most of control our hands. She's a southpaw and can shoot wickedly if up front. As long as she stays fully motivated and dedicated to this game she can move up from HS to college to olympic/pro. A joy to watch.

You might be fighting a losing war with the less serious minded posters. Danielle is an awesome talent and main reason Wando can't beat WA.
summerville has aa good stopper too - T. Shaw.

LowTownwildcat and Netzero --

Come on guys (I guess you're guys) cut us some slack here. If you're trying to get lucky by passing out sophomorish comments on which of these fine young women athletes is "hotter" you're deluding yourselves. Go start a "Top ten babes of SC Girls' Soccer" topic and post there.

I will have to agree with the comment about Britten Meyer being one of the best defenders in the state, but I will have to say from the experience of playing with her and against her that she is one of the best all around players in this state!!!

There are some very good defenders on RNE's team, in no particular order: Sarah Caron, Julie Swinson, Molly Flynn, Melissa Norton.

I must add the disclaimer that I am her coach and am therefore somewhat biased, but I must add Malia Pack from Lakewood on this list. She is a senior and for the past two or three years, she has been the backbone of our defense. We haven't had much success in the win column and the scores against us have been rather misleading, but one player can't stop them all. She is a bulldog on the field. Short, but full of drive. She'll run anyone off the ball and is willing to completely sacrifice her body to stop the play if at all possible. Anyone who has watched her play can attest to everything I've said. I 've seen star players from top-notch teams almost get sent off of the field because she frustrates them so much. Even the refs come over to shake her hand and compliment her on how well she has played. Of course I'm biased, but I believe her name should be up here with the best defenders in the state.

The best defender in the state would have to be the one and only #6 from lexington. She by far has the best defensive skills i have seen this year. [Wink] "True"

Forwards watch out and check ur ankles cuz she is on fire this year.

i dont know if shes the best defender in the state, but number #5 on HH, is among the best. I know shes only a sophomore, so it can only look better from here on out. HH has got two pretty fast forwards too, have no clue what grade there in though?
