lpaf - They aren't listening!!
This could be an interesting topic if we could keep the twerps who can't seem to get a date off the board.
Obviously, we have our Lowcountry bias but I also saw Mauldin and they have a forward who can score at will. Think she is going to Clemson from GFC.

swimmer... yes that's kelly shneider. she is incredible. best finisher i've seen since the girls from gfc usa. she is going to clemson and had many other options. her speed makes her an incredible fullback as well. she is also very unselfish and not only scores many goals, but has many assists and creates so many plays for her teams. there really isn't any competition this year.

S1 & 18! --

Asking who is best forward in the state is a little like asking which ice cream flavor is the best. Opinions will vary. The best test of any player at any position is how they perform against the best competition. Mauldin hasn't played any team ranked higher than 11th since the Viking Cup. Kelly Schneider is a great player. She only generated one goal against West Ashley in last year's state championship loss (I'm pretty sure she got it.) I think you could make the case that Demetria (Meech) Gibbs is one of the best forwards in the state. She scored one of the two WA goals against Mauldin last year and scored two goals against Wando's defense earlier this year.

The idea of total goals as a badge of honor is a joke in HS soccer. Almost every region is made up of two or three really good teams, one mediocre team, and a cellar full of the rest. Scores of 10, 12, or 18 to O are not uncommon. SCSoccer.com's individual statistics give an illusion of importance of offensive production. They avoid the more important question of who makes something happen on the field.

Ginny is the best forward in the state, but she is an evil person!!!!... She makes fun of retarded people.. especially that one in her drama class... you know the one that acts like Frankenstine and sings Frank Sinatra.. yea shes evil, but good at soccer.

What club team does Ginny Wolfe play for?

I'd agree that just # of goals is a poor criteria. Assists is almost more important.
However, you still need someone who can create goals.

lpaf,
Didn't Kelly McGinty of Wando score both goals against WA in their first game this spring?

Sorry to be slow in posting. I was away over the weekend. I don't remember if Kelly McGinty got either of the goals. The first was a PK for tripping in the box. The second goal was a pretty crossing shot. Abi sang the National anthem, though, I'm pretty sure. Should be a great game tomorrow afternoon.

ps: WA's first goal was also a PK. Lexis Brothers got it. Meech Gibbs got the next two.

I don't know her name but #10 on Clover's squad was awesome. That chick was hitting upper right and left 90 from outside the 18...with some pep on it too. She was very impressive but I don't think Clover has much representation when it comes to All-State and North-South stuff... so I just thought she should be mentioned (I wish I knew her name).

Dutch Fork has a couple of forwards you might want to watch out for. #14, Jill Karelitz, is an ODP player. Of course, everybody overlooks Dutch Fork, but they keep on winning.

bookieboy, Jill is a good player, and she scored two goals on us last week, she struggled when we put a physical defended on her. DF has a good team and they will say they were tired because of the number of games played that week but they had troubles with a young inconsistent RNE team. In fact there was a sense of disbelief boardering on panic when the game was tied the second time. They will go far in the playoffs but they can be beaten.

I'd extend your comment about DF to every team in the top 15. We've all seen the "better" team lose to a "weaker" team on a given night. And playoffs are nothing but a long series of shots at glory for everyone involved.

ps: Demetria (Meech) Gibbs scored the winning goal for West Ashley against Mauldin last year and two goals in WA's victory over Wando in their first meeting. In the last 10 minutes of a tight game I'd take her over a long list of better known 4-A forwards.

Maybe not the best, but Allison Hammond is an outstanding freshmen. She has scored most of the goals for Conway. It is very difficult to score goals on your own. When this young team develops, you will see her in the stats!
