Colleton County 0 @ West Asley 3

An uninspired effort by the Wild Cats. One really pretty goal by Danielle Jordan. WA had best bring a different game Wednesday night or their post season could be very short.

RNE 5 Hartsville 0, Hartsville's goalie played a super game and kept the score from being much more than it was. Any word on Summerville / Stratford??

2nd round games will require the best from every team. Most of 1st round games were lopsided.

Seeing that Wando - FD Score Brought Back Memories.......

....of the worst girls' high school soccer game that I ever attended. It was my Junior Year. My group of friends were close with some of the girls on the team, so we would make many of their playoff games. Wando was 20-something and 0 at this point. They were #1 in state and playing Fort Dorchester in the first round of the state playoffs. The final score was 23-0, but all I remember was the 23rd goal.

Not only were all the 2nd teamers in, but the 2nd team offensive players were plaing defensive positions and the 2nd team defenders were up front. Some girl who was playing fullback (although she was really a forward) cracked a shot from just on the Fort Dorchester side of midlfield. It was hit so hard and so accurately that FD's goalie had to attempt to save it, or it would have gone in. Unfortunately for her, the ball had more juice on it that she expected and went through her hands and cracked her in the head. Poor girl is lying their on the ground as the 23rd goal was chipped in by a second team fullback turned forward.

We await many more reminiscences as Wando travels through the playoffs. Can they make it past DF?

I really don't know much about the girls team. I keep up with the guys team because a very good buddy of mine who won three state titles as player at Wando is now coaching with them as an assistant. I just had some good friends on the '94 and '95 state championship girls teams at Wando. We tried to support them when we could. Girls high school soccer was/is a great game.

A freshman from Wando came in to Newberry College to play soccer as I was finishing up my career. He graduated in 98 and was named Brian. Can't think of his last name...real short guy. Any clues?
