Alicia Brothers at West Ashley is definitely one of the best 4A keepers in the State.

2004 --

I'll second your vote for Brothers of West Ashley. She isn't impossible to score on, but has to be one of the most athletic and intimidating HS goalies in the southeast. She owns her space in the box.

I think Katie Heos is the best keeper in the state! She works really hard and does a great job at Riverside! Good job Katie!

A goalie is only as good as the defense. I have watch goalies that where considered to be the worst in thier age group, the coach goes out and builds a good defense and all of a sudden the goalie looks like an all-star.

Saying all that, watch out for Monica at Chapin.

Brittany Pecora from Socastee is awesome. She is very good keeper. She keeps Socastee in the game when she is keep.

I agree that Chapin's goalie is good, but I think Carolina Forest's goalie, Jess Smith could give any goalie in the state a run for their money. She had 52 saves in one game last year. She only let 4 in out of 56 shots. I challenge any goalie in the state to beat that.

Just to play devil's advocate...I don't know the situation..in fact I've never seen Jess Smith play, but statistics alone don't determine the skill level of the goalie. If she had 52 saves in one game, the other teams forwards must have been terrible. That or as you said...she's just that good. Chances are though that the forwards just couldn't finish. I'm not tryin' to diss Jess Smith...I'm just sayin'...

That is a possibility, but it is not the way it was. They were a very good team and, though of course not all the shots were great, she did make a lot of amazing saves. Anybody who has seen her play would agree with me.

Well, a goalie can have a hundred saves and still not be a great keeper. Being a good athlete and being a great keeper are two diffferent things. I agree that 52 saves is quite a big number, but let's be realistic. If colleges looked at the number of saves instead of the team's record, keepers from teams like Thomas Sumter would be getting scholarships to Division 1 schools. The truth is, the keeper is the first building block of the team, the first attacker. But playing keeper is more than just making saves; it's directing the offense, switching the fields and aiding the defense. Saves are just a number, Wins are a whole season.

I'm so sorry I even put that number up there. All I wanted to say was she's a great goalie and our team would be nowhere without her. She saves our butts all the time. There, is that better.

Sure, whatever floats your boat. I'm glad you think she is great and respect her. That's what being teamates is all about.

Monica from Chapin still ranks up there as my favorite for best goalie in the state. She is amazing in the saves and can punt the ball 60 yards. We have played 13 games so far and while I have seen some very good goalies, Monica is by far the best of them...

Alecia Brothers is without question the best keeper in the state. She is not only athletic and extremely capable of keeping the ball out of her net, she is also very much a deep sweeper. She comes out with amazing speed and picks up balls that broke through west ashley's back line. She is a part of the game. She has many goal assists from her punts. Last night, for instance, both Bolt and Jordan had very close opportunities against Wando off of Brother's punts.

I agree with everyone that has said Alecia Brothers of WA is the best keeper in the state. She is a great athlete and extremely agressive to the ball. She'll do anything to keep it out of the net.

Irmo has two great keepers, Holly Mauldin, a Junior, on Varsity and Bailey Harman, a Freshman, on JV. They are both very good keepers. Irmo should be very strong between the posts for several years to come.

Spring Valley has a very talented and capable keeper in Jenny Hasik. Jenny has continued to develop into one of SC's better keepers. She has made some phenomonal saves this season. Also she has had two assist from the 18 this year.

many deserving names have been mentioned but Bevin English should clearly have been among them...though i have not seen her play this season, i am rather impressed by her 14 shutouts between the posts for Bishop England this year...even more impressive is that she did this against some remarkable competition...without a doubt the most difficult schedule in this state...includes three teams currently ranked in the national top 15...blanked teams include, among others: Parkview (#2 Nationally, #1 Ga. 5A); Lakeside (Ga. 4A, #8); Greenbrier (Ga. 4A, #9); Paideia (Ga. AA/A #3); Chattahoochie (Ga. 5A, at the time #7 Ga. 5A)...allowed only 1 goal in BE's draw against National #1 Broughton, NC...seems deserving to me!
