Some of you have a dog in this fight, unlike myself. Steve and his volunteers have done a fantastic job attracting the top talent in SC. What I'd like to know if which group would group would earn your "Group of Death" label and which would you label "Group of Slightly less Death than the other three"?

Group A -- Aiken, Dorman, Dutch Fork, Mauldin, Richland Northeast, Summerville
Group B -- Chapin, James Island, Ridge View, Riverside, South Aiken, West Florence
Group C -- Brookland-Cayce, Fort Mill, Irmo, Lexington, Spartanburg, Wando
Group D -- Byrnes, Dreher, Eastside, Myrtle Beach, Spring Valley, West Ashley

I think I would pull out and forfeit my games in this tourney (see Hillcrest-03) citing fear and uncontrolable bowel movements if I got put in group C. However, if placed in Group A I would change my excuse to inability to sleep and slight cramping of stomach.

R!C --

At first blush, Group C looks to be the toughest to me, too. The other 3 groups seem about even. The cross play between 3A and 4A is what makes this tournament so much fun.

As I said before, Group C is the Group of Death if Lexington is as good as advertised. They warm up against B-C on Thursday night and then "meet their maker" on Saturday morning, drawing Fort Mill and Wando back-to-back.

How strong is Spartanburg this year? Obviously they were very good last year.

Lexington is not advertising anything, they are a bunch of freshmen and sophomores, give them a year or two. Besides they aren't bringing their full squad to the cup. Maybe it's fear and uncontrolable bowels.

After demolishing AC 9-1 I hardly doubt its either of the two.

On a seperate note, I thought they were freshmen and sophomores last year. Am I confused (more than normal)?

Spartanburg lost 7 senior starters. Looking to reload with some youth. Should be competetive if they age quickly. 1st game could tell a tale.

Lexington's roster has four Freshmen, nine Sophomores, seven Juniors and one Senior on it. I beieve that the "full" roster comment was in reference to last year's starting Goalkeeper. She plans on being busy with Basketball State playoffs while The Viking Cup is going on.

As for advertising, Lexington is well aware that they are looking up at South Aiken in Region IV, until they PROVE otherwise - on the field!

Where was the "advertisement"? I must have missed it. Like I said earlier it's still way to early in the season......

hurst66, " if Lexington is as good as advertised " 6 posts up.

Not a full squad is minus: Starting (all region) goal keeper, Starting Center midfielders,Starting (all region) forward/mid fielder. Different reasons for absents, college showcase in Charleston being one of them, and Yes, basketball another.
