Wellcome to the "Man it sucks to lose close non-region games" club. Share your pain.

This game could have been won as easy as the first one, but it was more important to the coach to teach a life lesson on commitment.
He sat 2 club players for skipping practice to "scrimmage the colleges".

Then I commend him for that decision. As long as high school season is "in season" the other things can wait ... High school season is just 16 weeks long and that leaves, in essence, 36 weeks for other soccer (club, ODP, etc.) ... I'm all for a balance, but you cannot miss high school for club in-season.

I know many disagree with this and under certain circumstances (with plenty of advance notice) I've allowed players to participate in outside soccer, but not in the heat of the season ... One of the things you have to stress commitment ... Kudos to the coaches that emphasize this principle.

Even after the "2 club players" came back in the game for the second half we couldn't score. We had a few chances but couldn't get the ball in the net. Lexington is just not playing very well right now, it happens. Not enough passing for sure. Bottom line is Spring Valley wanted it more, and it showed on the field. Nothing but region games left now, so hopefully the girls will get re-focused and play to their potential.

At the beginning of the season the Lexington coach made clear his policy: if you miss a game for any reason except injury, you sit out the next game. If you miss a practice for any reason except injury, you sit out the first half of the next game. It is clear and the coach has applied it fairly across the board.

However, I do have a question for some of the folks posting: why is it that a few people on this message board post about a player missing a single practice all season to go play against Furman and Clemson but we don't see any mention of a player missing a practice to go to a concert, or a church event, a party, or whatever? There was another player who missed the game because of a conflict, and it's occurred with others in the season as well.

You (folks posting) might want to think about trying to apply your standards fairly.

Very good point Grok and I agree- but might I ask why is it that every time Lexington loses a game, people seem to cut them down..."is lex so bad that every time their is a few missing players they fold. show some pride, other teams has good players but also has a good team". Lexington has a great record and never gets recongnized when they win, only on loses. Lex can play with just about any team in South Carolnia, now they might not come out on top- but notice I said play. Bruce why such the hard feelings?

Grok, as far as I know the coach has been consistent with the players missing practice and games and having to sit out the next game or half game. It's not just when someone misses for a club event, but then again I don't monitor all the practices and see who's missing and for what reason. It appears to me that he is applying this fairly, but I could be mis-informed.
As for Bruce Banner, pay him no mind, I'm afraid the gamma rays have already done the damage. There's no hope for him.

Bruce apparently did not read LF's first post (which I agree with completely) before posting himself. Maybe he struggles with reading comprehension - it happens when you are not educated at one of South Carolina's finer schools.

And lets face a few facts. There are dozens if not hundreds or folks reading the posts but only a very small few posting. I don't know how many times someone has commented to me about a post but never post themselves.

So, Lexington gets a lot of attention on here because you have at least 3 people posting on them all the time and keeps everyone else informed and interested in their successful or unsuccessful games. Teams that post get the attention. If you fell slighted by the attention then post for you team. There are plenty of whiners in the world, we need more people that execute.

deahler: Bruce obviously was not "educated" at an SC school; my guess would be Purdue. [Smile]

P.S. Here's a snapshot of another Purdue graduate; you may remember him from your college days [for what it's worth, one with severe separation anxiety that has prevented me from seeing any high school games so far this season].

T.L. Hanna lost our match because girls from other schools that play club didn't come and transfer into our school and help our already skillful players.

There you go again, you whiny Electric City parents, blaming girls from other programs for your own short comings. Where is the personal responsibility for not getting out and redrawing those school district lines to pull in the needed talent? Why haven't you established a McKissick fund to help subsidize the movement of players and their families into District 5 from Greenville or Fort Mill? Be creative, coach.

You have put a picture of a dog on your "purdue graduate" link. It is a racing hound I think. I do not believe that this a graduate of Purdue.

lpaf: Several things. First, this picture is of Chico, an adopted racing greyhound. You have no proof that he was not educated at Purdue.

Chico may not be smart enough for Clemson or USC; but he's by far smart enough for Purdue.

Lastly, "deahler" says that he went to Purdue. I have never asked him for formal proof; I would think this would be insulting to him. In the same vein, Chico and I are extremely insulted that you would question his education.

We have billboards up in Greenville that prophesize this message under a grinning, smokey, short-haired greyhound:

Save a Life,
Make a friend forever...

That dog is probably 2 or 3 already and has another 6-10 good years left...unless some sort of injury has previously occured. Wouldn't this be classified as false advertising. I'm thinking of suing just like those who nailed Blockbuster for those misleading "no late fee" ads.

Chico (the dog) was not educated at Purdue, but his father was a fraternity brother of mine. He was majoring in Animal Husbandry (it's really a major at Purdue - GO!! Agriculture and Engineering schools). As a matter of fact, that is what Chico's father looked like most of the time when he was at Purdue. Some people just don't know how to maximize their educational opportunities.

Here's to hoping that the "severe separation anxiety" ends real soon so that Chico (the fan) can get out to see his daughter and her high school team play soccer.

I had a brother that attended Purdue, and a brother-in-law who is a Purdue grad. Maybe if I were a fighting Boiler instead of a fighting Sycamore tree/leaf (or whatever the fox-like mascot is now), I could learn not to download a virus and answer an email... right R1C?
It's amazing how the world stops when you have no access to the internet for 5 days.
But by the way, my husband is a Rose-Hulman grad (Another great engineering school). GO FIGHTING ENGINEERS!

deahler: Unfortunately, I wasn't kidding about "severe separation anxiety"; it's one of the few drawbacks to adopting racing greyhounds [not all greyhounds have it, but if you Google it you'll find a ton of stuff on it]. That, and a younger kid at home, means that only one of either my wife or I am going to any given soccer game. So far she's won the every "rock, paper, scissors" match; but I keep hoping.

Ahem...

When you adopt a racing greyhound, they give you a book on him/her that outlines things like racing results, parentage, and the like. Thus, I can tell you that Chico's father was "Kyle's Hombre" and Chico's mother was "Rapido Go Go." While I didn't know Ms. Go Go, I have reliable information that she always comported herself as a lady.

Chico turned three the day we adopted him; he has informed us that he will outlive us all. I'm not sure whether to take that as a forecast for his own long life or a threat he's making to shorten our lives.

He attended Purdue, obviously after the incredibly aged "deahler", as the first phase of his education. He's rather quiet on the subject of GPA and graduation status; having had him live here for only the last few months we've respected his privacy on the matter.
