Hope everyone made it out injury free in the first round.

We took a hip injury on our stud freshman. We don't know her status for Wednesday.

T.L. Hanna 8
York 0

YCHS never quit and never displayed anything but class. The Yellow Jackets came out inspired and netted three goals in the first few minutes of play. 22 players made it on the field and everyone seemed fairly rested when the final whistle blew. Bring on the tail whoopin'...

Wow. Region 1 might get 3 out of 4...

I'd like to add that the goalie for York played outstanding! She was all over the place and saved numerous breakaways. I thought she was a lot of fun to watch.

The game was fairly even except for a 6 minute lapse by the Lady Bears. Great season for the Lady Bears who in the fourth year as a team won region and finished with best record ever.

FM 8
Easley 0

Easley came out strong and was consistently in FM's end for the first five minutes. The girls from the Green Wave played hard the entire match and gave a great effort.

Easley finished in fourth place in Region 1, I feel they would have finished higher in the standings had they played in Region 3.

Hey Hurst, isn't it about time to recognize how the FM girls "come out strong" and "play hard the entire match"? The score last night could easily have been double digits. All these statements seem to be so low key it doesn't realy give proper credit to a 22-1 record, #1 state. #15 nationally. They've had a great year, regardless what happens from here on in! And, don't forget that one loss was very early in the season and was the second game of the morning! There has been a lot of player development since then, and even the JVs who played last night looked right at home...and productive! Talent and depth at every position. Some team might beat them, but they will certainly have to have a great night to do it!

hurst, you stated earlier in the year that the good players should not be left in against poor teams to score goals or inflate stats - i am paraphrasing here. but, according to the match report in "hs soccer in the news," ****lin scored a goal in the 78th minute? wasn't the match well in hand or did you guys feel a massive comback inside of two minutes? while that was overly rhetorical, the first part deserves a response.

dad,

You are way over the top. Anybody can beat anybody, look at what we have already seen. If you don't bring your "A game" every night, or if you let a team hang around and don't score goals....you go home early. I don't care what your record is or what you're ranked. At this stage, all games are very tough.

As for last night, give Easley credit for a great effort. FM would have gotten to 10 if they could, but they didn't. They never stopped trying to score. To Easley's credit, they never stopped hustling and defending. There are three teams in our region who absolutely quit and stop running in the second half of their games against FM. Easley never quit and challenged every ball.

If you think the Lady Jackets are going to waltz through to the state championship you are mistaken. There are a lot of teams out there that can play great defense and at least three teams in the Charleston-area who can argue that they have better talent than Fort Mill. It will take a tremendous effort to win the state championship. Whoever the victor is, they will have earned it (especially West Ashley).

(By the way.....we're 23-1).

Gimme a break Hurst! I said recognize the FM team for what they HAVE done. You seem to flap in the breeze; even your signature line isn't constant! Kept trying to score last night? Sure! Everyone on the field for both teams kept playing! But with FM playing defenders as forwards, rotating people in / out, taking starters out wayyyy before the end, putting a keeper in with a knee brace and limp, giving the JV girls enough time so they gathered goals & assists....common..you really believe FM could not have gotten to 10 if they wanted? Smart coaching, I say! Sure, anything can happen..and I said that. Support your own team...

wow hurst! sounds like the fm girls aren't the only ones who are developing! proud of you man.

but, seriously, fm dad sounded very similar to your opinions regarding fm's ability and chances from earlier in the year.

i know the charleston crew are not going to let you get away with that politically correct response that you probably are still laughing about are they? yeah, go ahead, keep smiling.

H66's comments don't mean much to the three Region 7 schools and S'ville right now. We're way too busy trying to mug and avoid being mugged among ourselves. One opponent at a time. And somebody is going to come out of the bottom half of the up state bracket to make FM break a sweat.

It's better for ALL the kids on the field to play like I hope they are coached. I respect his attempt to keep it interesting for his players (playing 4 JVs in a playoff game) while trying to not run it up...etc.

Your words, not mine. Then H66 reminded you it was really 23-1, not 22-1. Nationally ranked and all. I'll be surprised if Byrnes, South Aiken or whomever in your bracket even show up for the games. Gas is expensive, school budgets are tight. Just stay home and let FM do the cakewalk by themselves.

fm dad, I never commented on anyone scoring that late in the match. My point was specifically targeting the fact that ****lin was in the match in the 78th minute and her team was up by that amount of goals. Let me back up a minute and say this, I really don't care what other coaches do, how they manage personnel, matches, other teams, down a goal, up a goal, up 6 goals... My point was for Hurst, who has been on here all year giving his two cents worth and more. He has gone on and on about fm this and fm that. Finally, he tried to give all of us a lesson on coaching methodology, principles, and ethics when he said that players should not be left in matches where their team is up by a lot of goals in order to pad stats. Again, that is not directly quoted. But, you get my point. And now, he wants to come on here like a second rate politician. Sure, fort mill is very good. But, there are several very good teams. This isn't the first time that a team has gone 22-1. This isn't the first time for a team to be ranked in the country. But, it is the first time for fort mill. That is obvious. It is also obvious that they have never had this much success before, because they are basically letting everyone know about it. Every year there are teams that have great years. But, it is the teams who do it every year that you probably aren't hearing from too much on this board.

coach,

These boards are for fun and if I've struck a nerve, I'm sorry.

#1 Never ripped a coach on these boards for running up a score or dabbled in coaching methodology, etc.

#2 Never been malicious or demeaning, had a little fun trading jabs with other coaches/parents.

#3 Didn't arrive on these boards at the last minute to share my thoughts. Not a bandwagon fan, I came in at the start.

#4 FM girls have never had representation here, I'm sure most of the participants have enjoyed the insight.

Enjoy the rest of the season. Smile, it doesn't hurt.

I'm with coach on this one. H66 and FMdad have worked both sides of the karma street for Fort Mill this season. But then it's got to be hard trying to be humble when your team is so darn good. And anytime you're up by more than 2 goals in a playoff match at the 78th minute it doesn't make good sense to have your key players on the field. Injuries happen randomly at times...
