The Irmo Hilton head match was a hard fought game. Hilton Head went up by two early in the match; with Irmo closing the gap with a PK late in the first half. Irmo took control in the second half, scoring twice, and then controlling the ball for the last part of the game. Kudos also to the refs on a well called game!

P.M. Dorman 1 T.L. Hanna 0
I was witness to a beautifully coached, gifted team tonight as the Lady Cavs took home the victory. Playing precise and calculated soccer, Dorman was able to control the tempo throughout most of the game and earned the victory. Save the last few minutes of play, Hanna was held at bay and forced to play in the back 2/3 of the field for most of the night. If only the crossbar was 8 inches higher...
Congrats to the both teams, and I wish Josef and his girls the best. Thanks to the fans, the Lady Jackets, and especially two seniors, Rosanne Gusmus and Maranda Adams, for a great season.
p.s. Now what do I do?

Fort Mill 7 Byrnes 2
Byrnes never gave up scoring their first goal after being down 5-0. Fort Mill controlled action the whole game and almost everyone got a chance to play.

Southside Christian 2 Pendleton 0 i would like to congratulate the lady bulldogs on a great season. this is their first year together...and they brought home the Region Championship. that deserves props. they won't be losing many seniors, so they should be a threat next year. good job ladies!

Wando was able to clear the bench in a 5-1 win over Beaufort. Very tough game coming up on Friday against W.A. Hard to beat someone 3 times.

I am throwing my non-committing my hat into West Ashley's corner. Good kids, coach, and fans-cannot go wrong there. Just don't know about those FM supporters. Speaking of...
T.L. Hanna lost to Byrnes 3-1. Byrnes lost to Fort Mill 7-2. I shiver to think what would have happened...

I consider myself a very simple person. My taste, although unique, are not too varied and rarely go outside the box. Perhaps a bean burrito, no onions, mild sauce would pe a proper visual.
The conversations as of late have been a loaded chalupa swimming in Texas Pete. Too rich for my taste, I'm afraid. The presence of Hurst and yourself bring life and vigor to the board, do not get me wrong. I just get heartburn from it all.

RIC ...and I was trying to keep it very low key, high road and diplonatic. I'll bite my other tongue and try harder.
Much could be said about last night's game, but....keeping with the above...
Byrnes clearly came to play from the moment they stepped off the bus and showed talent. FM girls seemed to be having fun this game, too. For the true sport fans, seriously, it's too bad ya'll didn't get to see Jen F put it in from 40+ yards. One of those situations where people look at each other even before goin' nuts.
Best part; no injuries either side. Some hurt pride, both sides. Character building!

Fort Mill is really doing some amazing things and it is quite funny because they haven't been known for their girl's soccer. A couple of 11-15 rankings here and there prior to last year. Might make the drive Friday to see S.A. game...

The South Aiken vs Wren match was a tough one to watch as I am one of the Wren coach's close friends and a former Thoroughbred. The Lady T-Breds came out like a lame filly after what must have been a mind numbing three hour bus ride. Wren attacked early and had a number of missed opportunities in the 1st half. South Aiken had their own chances, but could not capitalize. Wren really looked to be the stronger, more organized team, attacking down the flanks with through balls and creating a lot of dangerous opportunities. South Aiken's keeper seemed timid in the 1st half, and the entire team seemed a step slow, save for #17 in the middle and #13 the sweeper.
Knotted 0-0 at the half, the 2nd 40 proved to be an entirely different match. South Aiken stepped to the ball and won, not in the prettiest way, almost all of the 50/50 balls for a 25 minute span. Both teams had attacked almost continuously in the 1st half, but South Aiken's speed on throw-ins began to give them the advantage as Wren's defense began to face more frequent tests. South Aiken scored first on a 1v1 with the Wren keeper hesitantly coming off her line as #2 for SA slotted an awfully slow outside of the foot shot into the back of the net.
Wren pushed hard for a few moments, led by #2 Anna Weldon, who put on a technical dribbling show for the next 10 minutes, and got the equalizer off a ball chipped in from the left side that bounced over SA's sweeper. The keeper was blocked by a Wren forward and Weldon slotted the ball into an empty net to tie the score with 15 min. remaining.
Wren was never able to gain momentum after their goal however, as SA quickly capitalized on a scrum infront of the Wren goal where the ball was poked in out of a crowd of players. Three minutes later, SA found the back of the net again on the nicest goal of the night, a dropping shot from the 15 from SA's Elena Bethman (#8?) that found the Wren keeper a step or 2 off her line at the wrong time.
It was a well played match, far more aggressive in the 2nd half than the 1st. Wren looked to be the more tactically efficient team in the 1st half, but did not catch any breaks when SA simply played harder in the 2nd. Ironically, from watching the 1st half it seemed SA's keeper would eventually be their undoing, as she seemed very unsure regarding her positioning, but it proved to be the Wren keeper who faltered as the game wore on.
Congrats to both teams. Playoffs are fun to watch when your team does not make them.

Jen Ficklen took her free kick from the edge of the center circle. Fort Mill's field is 120 yards long with the goals directly under the football crossbars.
It was 50 yards out and the term "rocket" would be more accurate than "floater". I've been watching womens soccer for 20 years and this was one of the best long-distance strikes I've ever seen.

I heard a fan with a mirror reflected the stadium lights in the keeper's eye and aided the goal. Will Fort Mill stop at nothing to win?

Lights weren't on yet...it was only 7:15.
She wasn't wearing a ball cap though, so maybe it was the blinding sun, the 25 MPH wind and the poor field conditions that the keeper had to deal with in front of the goal.
After all, there is NO WAY that this could have possibly happened?????

Lapf,
1. Get a small band of rebels to blow up the shield generator on Endor (hint: align yourselves with the native ewoks-upright relatives of the bearcats)
2. Fly a X-Wing into the exhaust port, shoot two proton torpedoes at the power core, and get out!
3. Return to endor for party with ewoks, two droids, and a guy who will soon be deflowering your jedi sister.

There is absolutely NO WAY that Fort Mill can do anything but win the state championship. Anything less would be a massive disappointment on the order to Vardar turning to the dark side of the force.

St. James had one very talented young lady. She was number #22 and exceptional. #23 for St. James was very entertaining because she could do the flip throwin and throw the ball about 30 yards. St. James' lone goal came from #23 shooting about 40 yards out over the keepers head.

PS if ya get the opportunity, watch the FM boys. Ranked #5 they obviously have some good stuff going teamwise, but the Keeper is simply fun to watch!

You misread the Star Wars reference, I think. WA in its non cakewalk "Doin' it the Hard Way Tour '05" is only looking one stop ahead at any point in time. Wando is the next stop. And Wando is and always has been the evil side of the Force.

Oh, by the way...
Anny Sky gets mad at Obi for his training going so slow. He eventually turns on him, fights, and is nearly fatally wounded so machines/mask/life support are hooked up and he becomes Darth. His anger and desire for revenge take him to the dark side. The Chancellor/Emperor scoops him up as his new buddy. Obi takes the kids and gets out of town.
