I guess my drive home was shorter than my friend LPAF. Great game tonight with a large boisterous crowd.
WA and Wando went 0-0 in regulation, 2 10 minute overtime periods, and 2 5 minute golden goal periods.
Wando's streak over PK victories over WA ended tonight. Wando only converted 1 of 1st 4, while WA converted 3 of 4.

Regulation saw a game containing many waves of momentum that shifted regularly. First half, Wando was on their heels for about 20 minutes and dodged several bullets including 1 crossbar shot off a corner kick. 2nd 20 was more even with even a slight advantage to Wando.

Second half was back and forth. However Wando did not put many of their shots on goal.
They did miss 1 golden opportunity in final period when a header off a cross went wide.

Special Wando kudos to their seniors who showed a lot of class all season, also junior Goalie Morgan Wright who had numerous saves against the strong WA offense. Special mention to freshman defender Sandy Hudson who controlled vitually every air ball and dominated the defensive midfield.

Good luck to WA and their seniors Jordan,Bolt, and Brothers who have had a long and successful career at WA. We are glad not to have to play them anymore.

I know LPAf would want my input on crowd . Overall a spirited group for both sides. One guy in a pink hat for WA was hanging signs all over the Wando stadium was a little distracting but he looked harmless enough. I know Wando students took a little grief last yr for the painted chests but at least they could spell. The WA boys ( and I am afraid some girls) who had t shirts spray painted with misspelled obscenities.

in my personal opinion i'd say WA dominated a large majority of the game. the whole thing was high intesity and full of emotion. glad i dont have to try and sit through that one again. it was a nail-biter, but deep down inside i knew WA would pull through and they did. congrats to the lady wildcats!! all three pk's were great (it was 3 not 4 swimmer). beautiful shots, everyone of them. (shots taken by Bolt, Jordan, and freshman Callie Purvis).

can't wait till tuesday.

Doin' It The Hard Way Tour '05.... 1 step closer.

In three games, WA and Wando played for 290 minutes with neither team scoring, yet it was some of the most entertaining soccer I've seen. Hats off to coaches Ferguson and McNeeley for a well coached game, and to both sides for playing their hearts out. "It just don't get no better."

Your count on the pk's is right. Wando first, wide left, Bolt in net. Wando second, above the cross bar, Jordan in net. Wando third, Catternacci in net, Purvis in net. (3-1 begining 4th round). Wando upper left side of goal on frame with clean block by Brothers for win. (Wando 1/4 , WA 3/3).

Great competition by two of the best teams in SC.
