Many SC schools are listed this year - including the Lowcountry's own Academic Magnet and West Ashley Girls. Great job in the classroom and on the field. Good luck to all with the 2006 season.

I looked around the NSCAA web site a bit, and couldn't find any more details about how these rankings are performed. I would imagine that a few other SC schools would qualify. The Governor's School for Science and Mathematics has to have one of the highest academic achievement rates of any soccer team out there. The Wilson HS team (Florence) is mostly International Baccalaureate students, so their GPA must be over 3.0.

In any case, congrats to everyone on this list.

I think if you visit this NSCAA link and look under the "2005 High School Team Academic Award Nomination Form" under the "High School Award Nomination Forms" you'll find the criteria for selection.

I too was surprised not to see more girls teams recognized for this prestigious team award.

Keep in mind that NSCAA awards go out only to teams whose coach is a member.
