H66- I know this isn't any of your doing, but when I look at the Fort Mill schedule I see an amazing lack of RED or currently ranked teams on your schedule. What's up with that??

BC is #1 in 3A, St. Joe's is #1 in SCISA, both Providence and Myers Park are solid top 10 teams in NC 4A, plus FM will see ranked teams in the TBA spots at the Viking Cup and the Byrnes tournament...there'll be plenty of RED teams through the season [Smile] Otherwise, Hurst is right...it's like being on the cover of SI!

As Mr. McCoy says, every attempt was made to schedule the best opponents possible outside of region play.

If the "Ranking Committee" would have been kind enough to rank Northwestern #15, we would have had two more "reds" on the schedule.

That's the way it goes LF, I noticed the same thing when I first pulled it up.

Ok, I'll buy that. I was just concerned you weren't going to get enough top notch competition during the season to keep the girls on top of their game [Wink] Good luck this season. Being #1 means every one will be gunning for you....

You are certainly entitled to your opinion R4, but reading the threads and comments plus having seen some of the players from Lex play for CSC/CESA/NECSA.... I would think that Chico, LF and Hurst are providing more realistic view than the one you propose.

r4sc- Like futbol stated above, you are certaintly entitled to your opinion, and I don't want to fuel any fires, so lets look at your statement come April / May. I do agree with the fact that r4 is weak though. Nothing we can do about that [Wink]

I also want to know about Hilton Head's jump to number 4. According to their scores last year, they are a very unstable team. At first, only losing to Wando and West Ashley by 1 and 2 goals, respectively, at the beginning of the season, but then losing to summerville 0-5 and fort dorchester 1-2 at the end of the season. Is it their second round play off game against iromo that bumped their rating up?

I would imagine it had more to do with the numbers of players graduated & number/quality of lettermen returning. Coaches submitted information to this site in order to give the voters more information into this poll. Perhaps that was the deciding factor.

The Viking Cup has traditionally been a very good test of talent-missing basketball players or not. All will be settled then.

Hilton Head Soccer will makes its mark this year, guaranteed.

The 5-0 loss to Summerville was without All Region and State standout, Lizzie H., and not indicative of our team's potential and talent at that time in the season. Previous game with Summerville, 3-2 Win.

The 2-1 loss to Fort Dorchester, again was without Lizzie H. and Charlotte C., 2 All Region Senior veterans, and was won by the officials, not Fort D. Previous game with Fort D., 4-0 Win.

This team can and will contend with the traditional 4A powers this year, and will continue its run when it joins the 3A ranks next year.

Like most individuals, I try not to take much stock in "preseason rankings" or rankings in general, but this is indeed an honor to be in the company of such great programs. What we do from here is the real test. See everyone at the Viking Cup...

I didn't see the match, and I assume HH had the upper hand....but ripping the refs is a slap in the face to Fort D.

Not necessarily. They are a good program and have quality players, but the refs gave them that one.

"Boooooooooooo! Hisssssssssssss!"

That is from classy coaches who teach their kids to accept responsibility. One must learn not to verbalize such thoughts. It tears away at the very fiber that allows our high school teams to compete.

Couldn't we have said "We were missing so and so and then what's her name and that really hurt our chemistry. We didn't get a couple of calls we thought we should and lost a close one."?

America needs more responsibility.

It seems to me that no one, or at least so far those that have voiced opinions about the Rankings, feel that Hilton Head deserves anything.
Maybe they are right, maybe we just haven't "proved" ourselves just yet...but that is all about to change.

So, we accept the responsibility to live up to and beyond our PreSeason Ranking. No excuses.

I hope Hilton Head brings the thunder this year in AAAA. We want to believe in some new underdogs this year! I vote for a James Island and Hilton Head lower state final. "Booooooo!" I say to Fort Mill and Mauldin. How about some Dorman and Lexington this year?

It's not worth much in these parts, but it's all I've got.

Word of advice...Hurst is the devil in disguise, Chico runs an underground greyhound fighting circuit, and LF will get you fired if you anger him. Stay far away from these characters and be afraid...be very afraid.

MBJones, good luck to hilton head on the viking cup.
i witnessed the 5-0 game against summerville and I had no knowledge of the missing players. I was amazed myself on how that game (and the fort d. one) were so different compared to the previous ones against those two teams. Solid performances against west ashley and wando. your team I definitely believe will come out fighting this year. I apologize for not researching on the missing players, my conclusion was based on those two strange outcomes. a 15 to 4 jump is quite impressive (even for a preseason ranking). again good luck!

Thanks, beginnersluck.
We are just so proud to be in the company of such great soccer programs. We look forward to the challenges this year, and hope to vindicate ourselves not only in our Region but in all of 4A as well. I look forward to meeting all the other coaches at the Viking Cup and wish everyone the best of luck this season.
