It has become painfully obvious (to me) that rules, be it SCHSL or SCYSA are not clear to those who are REQUIRED to follow them.

So can we have the ADs agree to write in plain english what is and is not allowed, when, where how, by whom, how many, etc...

I believe that as a reasonable person, anyone who studies the rules to find a loophole is doing it to get an advantage. PERIOD...

Email SCHSL office with the website. Let them make their ruling....then discussion is ended.

All sessions from January 2nd through January 20th are mandatory for all those interested in trying out for the Women’s Varsity Team.
*Ball Control Sessions will be run by either Coach Jones, Coach Ely, or a
Senior Captain. If you are not at a coach’s session, you are required to be at the Senior’s session. This is for both HHHS and HHMS students!

That cannot be legal. It says you cannot make it mandatory. If I were a DF parent I would be calling Mr. Singleton. Why can't coaches do their jobs w/out cheating?

It's funny all the attempts to end the discussion. The point of this discussion is to find out if the actions are legal-not just for one program, but the entire state. It's either right or wrong and we need to discuss until we figure this out to save others from future mistakes. I might not like it if my favorite team came under scrutiny, but I would feel better knowing the rules exactly to avoid any future problems.

Either way, the program set up itself is a thing to admire. Best of luck at the tourney.

Well, proof has been posted that it is illegal what they have done. We as adults know what "madatory" means and well, they made it mandatory, so they broke the rule. Personally, I do not care, I will not turn anybody in, but if they think they were following the rules to the letter, well they maybe need to rethink it and reread the rules. Then carefully word how they would like the students to handle the preseason.

"Then carefully word how they would like the students to handle the preseason." is a dependent clause. I would not expect Chuck Norris to have such a loose grasp on the grammatical rules of the English language.

First off, this board is not the place for HH's coach to defend the training(?) Even the most casual observer can reason that multiple rules violations occurred. Sorry coach, if is looks like it, smells like it and tastes like it - it is it. No matter how good the school's intents, the rules are in place for a purpose and are not open for interpretation, except by the League.
It is time for the League to investigate, if they deem it necessary. Good luck to all in this matter and in the upcoming season.

Why can't a coach discuss this on the board. After all, it was brought up on the board. Just curious...

LDdA - No legal training I see. You can even watch Law and Order to learn that when you are under fire-being suspected of wrong doing, you NEVER discuss it openly, for everything you say is potential evidence.
Besides, it is bad form for someone in that position of possible wrong doing to defend him/herself in public. Let the Big Dogs make a decision THEN discuss it. Make sense?
