Coach, I applaud your commitment to the HHHS girls program...we need more coaches who know what they are doing to provide more training and conditioning for the girls. Your intent is good.
Please don't think that the coaches of any of the other Top 15 teams in the state aren't as committed as you are. They all invest tons of time which probably reduces their hourly pay rate to somewhere around $0.37/hour. All of these Top 15 coaches (and some others) would like to be on the field 24/7 with their teams. The fact is....the state rules prohibit this.
I'm not accusing you of doing anything wrong, except for perhaps a poor choice of wording on your website.
You answer me above that the skill sessions were not mandatory, the conditioning sessions were (at least that's how I interpret it). NOTHING can be mandatory prior to the first official date of tryouts. The word "mandatory" should not appear on your website.
Secondly, you have used the website to organize and endorse scrimmage games. State rules prohibit you from doing this......it has to come from the kids. The players have to organize and promote this activity, the coach can't.
I'm not looking to bust your chops....I just want to make sure that the rules are being interpreted correctly. Again, everyone wants to get a leg up by starting early....and all of the competitive teams are doing something prior to the official start date. You just have to watch what you are doing and how you promote it.
I look forward to seeing your team play this weekend, I'm sure you are going to have a successful season.
Good luck.
