Fort Mill should not have any trouble with Woodruff tonight. It is very unlikely that a rural 2A school will be able to play with the #2 team in the state in 4A.

Thanks to Byrnes for this opportunity. And congrats to the Woodruff girls. From just the scores, some may not appreciate that this was a great Saturday for a AA team who began Saturday without 2 starters and lost a key player at the beginning of the second half of the SV match Saturday afternoon (a match that was 0-0 into the second half). Small schools are typically not very deep, but the Woodruff team played well Saturday after being unable to match a very fine Fort Mill team Friday night. Again, thanks to Byrnes for the tournament.

Thank you to all the teams. Woodruff might have been unable to match up against Fort Mill but the Woodruff girls never gave up. They played hard to the end. Hope all the girls are feeling better especially the player that was in the restroom with terrible chest pains.

Thank you for asking FMFAN. The girl in question suffered a panic attack on top of breathing problems from chest congestion. She was unable to play Saturday, but should be back on the field soon. Wodruff is building a program that we hope will some day be able to compete with anyone. We are closer than last year, but still a bit away from where we want to be.

Woodruff was well-coached and played with a lot of heart...they never gave up and played very hard.

I was very impressed considering 2A Fan's comment above that Woodruff is a rural 2A school. Not knowing anything about Woodruff (besides their impressive record), I expected a bunch of country girls that have not played above the rec level. This is surely not the case. Woodruff has some very good players on the squad who obviously have some club experience.

According to Mapquest, Woodruff is only 24 miles (30 minute drive) from downtown Greenville. Seems like these girls would have access to CESA. Do any of them play for CESA?

Woodruff has one player who plays premier for CESA and 2 others with CESA experience in their recent past (they now play for a different club). Some of the team plays some rec and the rest play soccer ONLY during high school. Which makes the improvement and skill level even more impressive to me.

They all play very well together and fight for every ball. I could see them giving Emerald a real good battle.

Good luck with the rest of your season. All of the FM fans will be pulling for you.

Purpleandyellow - glad to hear, our doc thought that might be the case. Glad she is better. Your team is tough - my daughter has the bruises to prove it. (the hazards of being a defender) Keep up the good work.
