James Island looks to be a team improving week to week. Compared with the last JI game I saw (BE) fundamental play and speed looked much sharper. They benefit from the play of one of the best natural strikers in the state (Kelly Gosnell) as well as a combined effort from a number of gifted 10th graders who played club or JV last year (Terry, Chisolm, Hawk, etc.). An excellent goalie rounds out the mix. Ranked 15th in the state in 4A, the JI girls team will begin its climb up the rankings next week with their Tuesday night home game against Wando (currently ranked 3rd in 4A).
