emerald 1 woodruff 1

emerald takes the win in PKs

2 things should be noted

(1) woodruff lost their top scorer tuesday night (torn ACL) so their play tonight was very impressive against emerald—both teams excelled

(2) the match had 3 refs—and they made this an excellent match!—it proves how important refs are in high school matches—they were excellent—

Purpleandyellow, sorry to here about your player, Woodruff was very impressive and I can see why you guys have been rolling over teams. I would like to say the track meet that was going on was very distracting to me as a fan and I would think to the players also. Thank you for not complaining about it because I probably would have.

The match was too well played to worry about the track meet! It is a real shame that match ended with PKs—hard to leave there with a loss—we really had to raise our level of play without our top scorer—Thanks for the kind words. Emerald is very well coached—and I still believe Emerald and Woodruff are the top 2 teams in the state—

My compliments to West Ashley as well--we both came into this match with key players injured on the bench (Berkeley lost another to a sprained ankle during the match), but West Ashley proved that even wounded they are still dangerous. Great depth and character--they've had to play and pull together through some really tough breaks this season. Good luck to the WA girls in the games to come!

Now, saying that emerald and woodruff are the top two teams in the state, I assume that is coming from an extreme biased for one or both of the teams. While definantly giving woodruff credit for a good game, Fort Mill did beat them 8-0. So I can't see how they are the top two teams in the state. I will give you the top two teams in 2A. I'm still not impressed with a 10-7-2 record, i don't care how good the teams that BE plays, thats not a number one ranking. I mean please correct me if I'm wrong but that is like saying a pro team with a sub .500 record should have a first round bye and home field advantage all through the playoffs, because of their strength of schedule...please. Just like Fort Mill and Wando, Summerville obviously has a better record, why are they #4? Summerville beat HH 4-1, Ft. Mill only beat them 2-0. I'm from Ft. Mill, but i'm trying not to show a biased and prove that several teams should be ranked higher then they are.

Well I see BE has a game against Broughton (NC), so depending on how they do in that game, I may have to retract my statement, but until then thats, how I feel. Good luck to Woodruff and Emerald in the playoffs.

Northwestern 0 - Mauldin 1

Very hard fought match could've gone either way. Mauldin scores with 15 min. remaining in the second half, off of set piece from 35 yards out.

Congratulations to Northwestern. To play that closely with a very fine Mauldin team shows how well they are playing. They have steadily improved during the season and could be a tough match-up for anyone during the playoffs.

Looks like a great match between woodruff and Emarald. It is ashame about the loss of thier player. I know who you are talking about and she could have been the difference maker going down the stretch. I think it was great to here that the other players stepped up and this should be a real confidence builder for them the rest of the year. Is it true that woodruff only has one senior and she is a defender?

Woodruuf has a senior at sweeper—all else returning—and a few solid fresh coming in—
OBVIOUSLY my comment was about the best 2 teams in 2A/1A—I guess I should have noted that—This board fields many silly comments—But I know that the top-rated 4A and 3A squads are far superior to Woodruff—Who has 3 top players but many starters who play only duirng high school—Compared to bigger schools fielding virtually all club players—

Second loss to Wren this season. Lady Lions graduate two, have several club players in as freshman for next year, so quality of play should improve.

Mauldin doesn't seem to be scoring as much as previous seasons (but you cannot aruge with the win total!). Does an insider know why blowouts aren't as common this year? Have they lost a finisher or playmaker from last year?

"Wren's website says 3-1" .... and Daniel's site says 2-1. Either way, it was a loss for Daniel.

They doctor their record in the paper as well. Either way, after a 1-4 start they've won 11 out of the last 13. The Daniel everyone is used to is back.

Alright, thats all i needed was some clearification. And I don't just care about 4A and 3A. If you read further into my response, I sure did A LOT (HAPPY) of promoting for emerald and woodruff for being number one and two in 2A, that is, for someone who doesn't care about 2A. GO WOODRUFF!!!!

Chico....way to go out on a limb.

1 goal allowed in 10 games, eight straight shutouts.....you're allowed to talk a little smack. Aiken has no chance.

Aiken played very well against Lexington in the last game. They seem very well coached. Ellie Victor (sister of Rob Victor of the Aiken Fire, Kentucky, and now Furman) of Aiken is in my opinion one of the top 4A defenders that I've seen -- she gave Lexington a fit in the last game.

Lexington continues to be very young. I think that they have a chance if they keep their shape and width, look for open players, build an attack, and play as a team. If they don't, then it's going to a long night.

lpaf: I am dumbfounded (fortunately for me this is a state in which I seem to reside permanently -- I don't mind, the property taxes are low.) I have not the beginning of a clue as to what it means. It even defied my "google" attempts.

"Lexington continues to be very young."

You can't continue to be very young, you can only get older. There are no freshmen anymore....not this time of year.

RIK looks regal somehow. Or vaguely slavic. I don't know about it either.

Chico, I googled it too. It was spooky to come up empty on a Google search, wasn't it?

H66, Dylan disagrees:

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

Bob is good, Bon is better

Tommy got his six string in hock
Now he's holding in what he used
To make it talk - so tough, it's tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night
Tommy whispers, Baby it's okay, someday

We've got to hold on to what we've got
'Cause it doesn't make a difference
If we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot
For love - we'll give it a shot
