James Island's performance was very impressive considering the little number of subs they had. Awesome game to watch. Congrats to both team on a great game and to Wando on for the win. good luck to both teams in the future. Kelsey Riggs did AWESOME.

Miss dixigal57,

There's no problem with the small number of subs (5, I think) the JI coach has to work with. The problem is the coach dosen't use them. She could have had 15 subs on the bench and it wouldn't have made a difference. When Mack went out in the first half, there wasn't even a player warming up on the sidelines.

JI played with Wando in the first half, but in the second half JI clearly slowed down while Wando maintained or even picked up the intensity of their play.

James Island's problem is first a lack of impact players up top. Gosnell is a natural striker, but in tough games she's asked to do too much by herself to advance the ball. Wando closed her down and controlled the JI offensive threat in doing so. The 10th graders will step up and take leadership roles, but it may be next season that we see this, not this season. For the time being JI is one striker short of being threatening against good defense.

I hope the season is still long enough for someone to step into this role. If not there's always next year.
