The James Island vs Fort D score was 8 - 4, I think. First half score 6-1. The Lady Trojans played a great game on a beautiful field. On to Irmo Wednesday.

Good showing by SA in the FM game. I have to admit I expected a much higher score by FM against them.

What was your take on that game Hurst?

Good job SA!!

FM let a lot of the JV and younger girls play in the second half.

Congrats to the Lady Jackets for making it to second round. It sounds like you've got your work cut out for you playing a NW team that has played some of the best teams in the state to one goal games. But like their school mascot, Radio, the Lady Jackets can prevail. One game at a time. North Western may be bigger than you and played in a more competitive region, but they put their soccer shorts on one leg at a time... Go Jackets!!!

I would think you'd have to retire "The Hard Way Tour" after that run.

I don't think they brought up a lot of JV players, but all the younger girls on their roster got the chance to play. Maybe 3 or 4 jv's. Good experience for the younger jackets.

Officially, doing it the hard way means playing every playoff game on the road, winning them all in close fashion, then working back from a 3-1 deficit in the state championship to win against an overwhelmingly favored team in overtime. These exact circumstances will probably never be repeated, and had to do with the high level of competition last year in R7 and WA's third seed position therein.

But, JI has a difficult row to hoe. They are a young team constucted around a core of 10th graders who did not play varsity last year (or played very little). They will be facing Irmo in Irmo after Irmo dispatched Conway 452 - 0 in the first round. The JI Lady Trojans are a player or two lighter on the bench than most coaches would want and have more than their share of walking wounded on the field at any point in time. Still, the first half of tonight's game showed a very high level of soccer, so we'll see... Go Trojans!!!

laplageauxfolles,
i didnt attend the game, but I am interested in what you mean by "first half of tonights game". what happened during the second half? i also heard rumors of someone on JI receiving a red card. if this is true, how is it going to affect the next game?
