What does everyone think of BE? Who in the top 10 could take the #1 spot this season?

Be is certainly not overated. after all they beat the number 7 3A team (BC) 5-0 !!

Chapin I have heard is really good too and has some good wins against quality teams.

Yes, BE is VERY over-rated. They are not THAT good. When we played them, they didnt have that many players that stood out, except 1 or maybe 2. But anyways, they are HIGHLY over-rated.

Yes BE is overrated. When we played them we tied them 1-1. The only player they have is number 9, lawrence smith. If you can shut him down, theu you have a soccer game. Smith did not score when we played them.

This post also appears in the "Cardinal Newman was lucky?" topic too.

PM- I think your reasoning is completely one sided. Yes you may have dominated C-N, but is there a place in the win column for how bad you dominated? No. You made a big point about how you dominated C-N and the score did not reflect the game. Well, the numerous coaches I have spoken with say the same was true with the Porter-Gaud/Bishop England game. The people I have spoken with says that BE completely dominated P-G but could not finish, and when they did put a decent shot on goal, the P-G GK came up huge. I heard that P-G had one or two good chances and stuck one away.

In fact, the prevailing opinion is that the ONLY player that kept P-G even close was the GK. If you are going to make posts about how you completely dominated someone but the score doesn't reflect that, then be prepared for people to bring that point up when someone completely dominates you but can't finish.

PS- No, Bishop England is not over rated and never will be. Think about it, BE can draw players from, at least, the entire Charleston area, is not the whole state. Then they take this All-Star team and compete against schools that have to get their soccer team from 600-800 students. And, the only thing that it costs them is a small fee to play in AA. How can these small schools compete with a lower state All-Star team? H0ow can an All-Star team be over rated against schools with such limited resources? If BE playeed AAA or AAAA, then this would be reasonable discussion but until then, BE is never and will never be over rated.

Bishop England's biggest foe is complacency. They are expected to win the AA state title and if they don't, it is a bad season.

Wait a minute.........

PM- You did not tie BE. You lost. Granted it was in PKs but you still lost, right?

This is not the NHL, you do not get points for tying in regualtion and then going into overtime.

After having observed B-E now at least 5 times this season, anyone stating that they are overrated doesn't really have a grasp on the talent they possess.

B=E beat Ridge View tonight 9-7 in overtime in the championship of the 2002 Palmetto Cup in perhaps the most exciting HS soccer match I've ever seen ... and in my involvement with HS soccer in South Carolina as a coach and spectator for over 11 years now that is saying something. Wins for B-E included a 3-2 win over Norman North (OK), a perennial favorite and national top 25 program, a 4-1 victory over P.M. Dorman (#2 in AAAA at this time, and a deserved #2 ranked team I might add), and a 5-1 victory over Class A #1 Christ Church.

In addition, B-E has played one of the most challenging schedules a 'smaller school' could play, and I commend them for that. B-C went to Bishop England this season after having bested them last year and proceeded to lose 5-0. If you truly believe that Bishop England is not a force to be reckoned with, I don't think you are as informed as you must think.

You are always a target when you are on top. B-E has been on top for a number of years and will continue to be until someone knocks them 'off the hill'. Kudos to the Battling Bishops for their victory tonight in the 10th annual Palmetto Cup, and to the outstanding season they are having.

what kind of score is 9-7? 16 goals in a soccer match? i can only think of the poor defending on both sides.
