H66,

When was the last time you remember me doing soccer game perspective. I’m just a “soccer dad” I leave that analysis to you "experts". Now if you want some perspective on a basketball game, I am happy to contribute.

Anyway, here is my take. The third straight "BIG GAME", mounting injuries and a great Dorman team on the other side of the field finally caught up to the Wildcats. While Lexington certainly did get the home field (whatever that is worth), the slate of teams was straight from HELL!!!

The Wildcats have played the Cavaliers three times in the last 13 months and have yet to play them with a healthy team. Not making excuses, Dorman showed up with what they had and played their game and won. It would be interesting though for Lexington to have all of its horses just one time for a game against Dorman. Oh well, not to be...kudos to Dorman on their victory.

GO IRMO!!!!!! (the NEW underdog)

Thank you deahler. Congrats to Lex on a great season, you know they will be back. A very tough path and two 2OT games in a row.....that's asking a lot of any team.

Congratulations to Dorman and Irmo. I don't have a dog in the fight but I will pull for the fellow upperstate team. Go Dorman!

deahler: Despite the fact that Lexington lost two starters, one a 2005 all-region player, in the games against Mauldin and FM that couldn't play last night and lost a third 2005 all-region player earlier in the season to an ACL that couldn't play last night, I thought that Dorman did an excellent job. Until Lexington can get consistent play on the outside [particularly like we saw the team do so well against Mauldin where the crosses were as nice as I've seen all season by any HS team], Dorman or any team with that level of talent is going to give Lexington fits, just as Dorman did the last two times the team played them.

Lexington will miss the two seniors graduating; but I believe that barring injuries, Lexington will be pretty tough next year.

Now you see why I don't do analysis for soccer games...Chico is spot on!!! I learn new things every game...

Normally I would pull for the Upper State team (which Irmo will be next year). However, our family has way too many friends on the Irmo side for me to pull against them in a game not against Lexington.

Things are more complicated where I live, so instead of teams sometimes we have to cheer for people. So go Coach Frederick and Rachel Wadsworth and Britney Horton and Kristen Werdunn [manager] from Irmo and go Carmen Osorio and Hannah Chapman and Nathalie Emplit and Alix Zongrone from Dorman!!! [And any others I missed.]

deahler: Two things:
  • If you look at my post you'll find the correct spellings.
  • I have fired my fact checker.

Chico is correct. The difference between the Dorman game and the Mauldin / FM game, especially the Mauldin game was the passing, or in lasts night case the lack of passing. Dorman did a very good job of passing the ball where Lex for the most part seemed to just be kicking the ball.
Here is the review from the paper, which is pretty accurate as well The State

I thought Dorman dominated the first half with Lex dominating the 2nd half as well as the 2 OT periods. As VERY poor call by the center ref provided the chance for the game winning goal. Refs were inconsistant. Calling it very close sometimes, and then not calling anything at others.

Dorman just seems to have Lexington's number. Hope we get another chance at them next year. GO IRMO !!

Thanks LF. Sorry to see things got a little emotional there at the end.
