Players are limited by the # of matches played. If they play varsity they can only play 16 reg. season varsity matches and 2 invitational tournaments. JV is limited to 12 matches and 2 tournaments. I interpret this to mean that once a player has played 12 matches and participated in 2 invitational tournaments he/she is no longer eligible for JV competition. Participation in JV matches and tournaments count against a player who might move up to varsity. They cannot, for example, play in a varsity invitational after they have played in 2 JV invitationals or play in 5 varsity regular season matches after they have played in a combined 12 other regular season matches. I hope this answers your question.
