Hammer - The problem that Brookland-Cayce has experienced is the fact that the field at The Cage has suffered from poor drainage since its' inception during the 1993-94 school year.

It has been discovered that faulty drainage pipes have NEVER worked on the visitors side and plans are to fix the problem as soon as soccer season is over.

In the meantime (spring season 2003) we have had numerous cancellations and postponements due to the fact that the water has no where to go and thus you play in what is nothing short of mud.

We spent roughly $8000 resodding 18,000 square feet in March primarily for the fact of making sure we had a surface to play on for the Palmetto Cup. With hard work and sacrifice ($$$), at least we made this feasible.

As I speak we have tarps on the field covering roughly 15,000 square feet of the new sod -- just because we had a downpour Thursday (4/24) night and Friday morning. The field simply cannot remove the water.

Thanks for the question (and letting me vent)!
